There are many cutting board options out there. Glass, plastic, and wood. Generally speaking if you want to keep your knife's edge you should be using wood or one of the plastics. I prefer wood for my larger cutting boards, and bamboo specifically. This cutting board is a great size, has the nice feature of the grooves around the edge to collect juices from whatever you are cutting. With the small reservoir there is ample room to manage even very juicy cuts of meat, or poultry, as well as fruits. The board is light enough to be easy to move around and yet sturdy enough not to be concerned with it being flimsy or not having a long use life. It is heavy enough to stay in place while carving a larger roast, or bird. The bamboo is high quality and I choose bamboo because it is fast growing and renewable. You won't be disappointed with this cutting board if you are looking for a board that is of this size and at a high quality to price ratio.

I love wooden cutting boards and I already have quite a collection of those. So I am going to be honest here and say that I am not using this as a cutting board. I was searching for something of this approximate size to use at one end of our ottoman just to hold a book or two and my iPad. I wanted something attractive. After much searching through trays and platters, I thought "cutting boards" and I loved the look of this one: I am not disappointed!I was going to use the flat side. My daughter flipped it over and pointed out that the grooves are perfect for keeping my pens from escaping. How clever! And that little pocket in the corner: we found something to keep in there as well.

I was looking for a good size bamboo cutting board that was solid and well made but not very thick. This one fills the bill exactly! It is a high quality, bamboo board about 17" long and 1/2" thick. Perfect. I mostly use the flat side as it is easier to sweep cuttings onto a plate or dish than it is on the grooved side. However the grooved side is best for cutting meat. Have used it for several days now and it certainly resists knife marks due to its solid bamboo structure. I did add four soft rubber feet at the corners to keep the board in place while using it on the kitchen counter. You may find this step is not needed for your purposes. .

Comes unseasoned, and is rather thin. You will need to get some oil/seasoning and use it daily for awhile, then monthly. The cutting board itself is strong and light but slim. It has a strong smell that dissipates over time as you put more oil on it. If you already have butcher block oil (basically mineral oil), that should do, too. Nice solid chopping board in some areas the wood was bit hairy - not as smooth as other areas but that doesn't stop me to make the most if it. It is solid bamboo durable cutting board.I do use a food safe bee wax after washing and drying it to prolong the life of chopping board as it does mortuaries it to prevent splitting, but I do that on all wooden spoons or choosing boards and wooden bowls.Yes I would recommend it to everyone who likes quality product.

Having just installed a Kohler single basin stainless steel kitchen sink, I wanted a cutting board which would fit in the tracks of the sink allowing it to slide from side to side. This would allow me to slice and dice and sweep the scraps/pits/peels directly into the sink and disposal. The trick was finding a nice looking, quality cutting board that was just over SEVENTEEN INCHES LONG (there's not alot of choices out there). This one fit the bill perfectly. I also purchased two additional for christmas presents and where enjoyed very much during barbecues.While you are cutting the board releases amazing bamboo smell that shows that it made from real bamboo.I advise to include a simple manual to treat, prepping and maintaining.
