Deadfall Adventures - Xbox 360

I think this is a great XBox360 game. It has very good graphics, and has very interesting levels. You travel all over the world, and see many cool places like the Antarctic, Mayan ruins and Egypt. The level design is great, and there are many types of interesting enemies including supernatural ones. There are traps to avoid, which is rare nowadays in shooters, and you have many puzzles to solve. This is a great game, which got only a small advertising campaign.

While not a perfect game, Deadfall knows exactly what kind of game it is. The story is fun and doesn't take itself to serious. The gameplay works well and the puzzles provide just enough to mix things up now and again. The various environments you come across all have a great look to them. This is not the best looking game to come out this year, but for a budget title it looks and plays fantastic.

You could almost call this an imitation FPS version of Uncharted, right down to the hero that's rough around the edges, girl that's book smart, and old man team. Same kind of environments, same kind of enemies (plus mummies), same kind of puzzles, same kind of notebook, etc. The compass is a good touch but it slows you down more than it helps you. The treasures are pretty easy to find without it anyway. My biggest problem with it has got to be the controls and overall movement. The controls aren't very fluid, even with the sensitivity cranked up, and your player is kind of sluggish. Being able to jump is just a joke because you can only jump about an inch (not much of an exaggeration) from the ground and it's never really even required. It's more of an annoyance because half of the time that you are trying to select an item, you end up jumping instead. That's mainly because the A button is used for both actions and you have to be decently spot-on to select an item. There's somewhat of a variety of weapons, at least their names are different, but most of the assault rifles look and perform much the same. The sniper rifles have varied zoom aspects and the handguns vary mainly by clip size. At this point, the game is selling for less than $20 so it's not too bad of a purchase if you're trying to squeeze the last few drops out of your Xbox 360 before you bite the bullet and get an Xbox One. If you've got plenty of games to play already, you may want to pass this one up.

Good if you like simple games. Yes it's derivative, and follows convention (shoot, shoot puzzle, shoot, shoot puzzle), and is based on everything from Indiana Jones to Drake's Uncharted. And it seems to be a short game as I finished the first of three sections in maybe a couple hours of play. However, if you like adventure stories/movies/games it can be pretty enjoyable. I like the main character, he's kind of a loner/anti-hero type that's so popular these days, but set in the 1940's. Aiming isn't very easy compared to some games, but some might like that as that makes it not too easy. It's basically Indiana Jones with Mummies, who could say no to that?

The game is good overall. The storyline is comprehensible, the graphics are good enough. The choice of weapons is logic as are Quartermain's skill upgrades. My only issue is how sluggish the game really is. Other than that, I recommend this game to gamers that don't mind getting games with no game.

No fault of the seller, but this has to be one of the worst games every made for this system.

I was pretty disappointed with this game. The premise sounds good sort of like Indiana Jones meets Lara Croft. Instead it's kind of clunky basic shooter game that's been done too many times to count. The graphics are merely so-so. In a story very reminiscent of an Indiana Jones movie, Lee Quartermain, Alan's grandson, is hired to help a group of archeologists find an ancient relic which can bestow great power. The group ends up running into Nazis who are after the same treasure. They must fight undead mummies and other creatures to survive and end up traveling from Antartica to a South American jungle. There are some puzzles added in to, I suppose, increase the interest of the game but I found them either extremely simple or completely illogical. The notepad feature in the game is supposed to offer tips to Lee based on the information from his grandfather's diaries. The drawings were poorly done and often were incomprehensible in my opinion. Points are earned for finding treasures whereby Quartermain can increase his health, stamina or combat abilities. There's very little to the adventure other than moving through ancient archaeological sites, finding treasure and shooting either mummies or Nazis. All, of course, leading to the final showdown for the sought after artifact. I really don't understand why this game is rated M. Other than the shooting, there is nothing else that would warrant a mature rating. A Teen(T) rating would be more appropriate and would probably have made me less likely to have paid the full pre-release price for a game that is sure to quickly get discounted. I'm going to rant for a second and say that there have been very few really good Xbox 360 games that have come out in the past 6 months. I know there are a few exceptions. Obviously, they've been putting all the effort into launching the new Xbox One but we loyal longtime customers who want to keep our 360's shouldn't have to suffer. I've got high hopes and a pre-order for Dying Light coming out soon. As far as Deadfall Adventures, if you want to try it, I'd definitely recommend waiting a month or so for when it will probably come down at least 50% in price. Or, if you haven't played the latest Tomb Raider, just get it instead. It's much better than this cartoonish attempt at an adventure game.
