This lens had such good reviews that I thought I'd try it. It is as advertised with the exception of focusing. It struggles and, even with eye detection and steady shot takes a lot of tries to grab focus. Once there, it does a beautiful job.

When I purchased my A7RM3, I was thinking of purchasing the 85 GM 1.4. I rented it from the local camera shop and fell in love with the quality of it. After watching numerous reviews on both lenses, I decided to purchase the 85 1.8. I was blown away at the quality of this lens! Sure the GM is about 5% better, but I could not justify paying another $1100 dollars for the GM. If you are torn like me, and are not perfectionist, this lens is a must buy for portraits.
