Samsung LPKIT-3 Liquid Propane Conversion Kit for Gas Dryers, White

Not hard to install. Most time spent figuring out how to get dryer apart without scratching it.

At the time of this writing Samsung states on their web site this LPKIT-3 works in all Samsung gas dryers. It is an easy installation once you get to the gas assembly. See the review at Lowes for a great tutorial on how to take the cabinet apart to get to the gas assembly. Taking the front panel off was slightly different for our model, DV42H5000GW/A3 (had a tab on each side instead of one in the middle). When you get the front panel off and are looking at the gas assembly the following details will help with the installation. There is no need to reach into or around the ceramic gas ignitor and possibly break it. Our dryer had two screws holding the gas assembly to the bracket from the front of the cabinet (each side and directly below gas assembly) and one screw on the outside back of the cabinet (holding the end of the gas pipe where it exits the back of cabinet). Remove these three screws and the whole gas assembly slides out to the front just far enough to see what you are doing (no need to disconnect the gas assembly wiring). Next turn the gas shutter to the LP setting per the LPKIT-3 instructions. Now you can get to and see what you are doing while you change the brass piece with the plastic springy thing (Yes, that's what its called) and the gas orifice per the LPKIT-3 instructions. My husband and I installed the kit. It was more troublesome to remove the top and front of the dryer to get to the pilot. The first valve was simple to replace because it was in front. You definitely need a wrench because you can’t get a screwdriver in to unscrew it. The back valve was trickier because it’s in the back and hard to see what you’re doing. The valve went in fine. Just remember to switch the sleeve to LP from N or else you won’t be able to get the screw holes to line up once the new valve is in. Other than that we were able to do it.

This is the correct part for my new Samsung LP dryer. It worked immediately and has been ever since. It's such a nuisance to install, though, that I had to hire an appliance guy to put it in. It involved taking the dryer panels apart and then re-assembling the machine. That fact isn't a review of this product, but if you are thinking of replacing your LP dryer with a more modern efficient one, you'll have to get one of these little converters, either this one or another maker's model before the dryer will work. They are not supplied with the appliance, even though the appliance is specifically designed for liquid propane. The instructional video I got on line, thinking I would do the installation myself, was almost completely useless as the demonstrator had his hands in the way of the camera most of the time. These are not expensive, and mine came within a few days of ordering, but this little requirement is an unexpected magilla to get you started.

The conversion parts are as expected, but do not expect to be guided through the process of getting into your dryer, removing the gas module, and installing the new parts. The instructions were not written by someone who ever attempted the change, or perhaps does not have a firm grasp of English. You will be better served searching for a YOU Tube video for guidance, especially to remove the gas module.

It is pricey for a couple little brass parts but not much you can do about that I suppose…

This is an Samsung OEM/Factory retrofit kit for propane. It includes a new jet, a plug that forces the internal pressure regulator open and printed directions (which aren't great, but OK) and several propane retrofit warning decals for the exterior rear surface of the appliance.
