Ideal for Canon lenses with no loss in optical quality
I’m a well-known pro and specialize in tech and imaging reviews. If you are reading this review you already know the Sony mirrorless cameras are terrific. Like me, you are likely looking for ways to use your excellent Canon glass with the Sony system. Simply stated, the Sigma MC-11 is a terrific solution. But be aware that it’s not a miracle maker:PROS:No loss in optical quality.Great build and ease of use.A fair price. Most Canon EF and other lenses will work with quite good focusing speed and tracking.CONS:Some lenses are outliers so be sure you have latest firmware installed. You may like Sony lenses for typical lighter weight. The MC-11 adds 4.4 ounces to lens weight.OBSERVATIONS AND TESTING:I did an exhaustive test with my high end Canon lenses, using them with the 61 megapixel Sony A7R IV. A camera with this type of truly incredible resolution will really show differences although in most uses, minor differences in lens sharpness are not as discernable as what I’ll discuss here:My Canon lenses are great. The Sony lenses, in almost every case, are better yet. Thus, if you are using a camera with crazy high resolution like the A7R IV, you may want to switch to Sony lenses sooner rather than later. Depending on the Canon lens tested, focusing is really good, but fast tracking for sports and wildlife is a bit behind native Sony lenses. The best Sigmas and Tamrons optimized for Sony will also sometimes beat Canon lenses for speed and tracking.I tested Canon EF lenses including 16-35 f2.8, 16-35 f4, 24-70 f4, 70-200 f2.8, 70-200f4, 24 IS, 300 f4 IS, 1.4x TC. They all did a great job. Particularly, I’m seriously considering hanging onto my wonderful 70-200mm and 300mm Canon’s for use with the MC-11. Sony does not yet have quite the perfect match for me in those focal lengths that match light weight with pro performance. The only lens disappointment for me was the otherwise wonderful Canon 100 f2.8 Macro. It hunts for focus and was not a good performer with the MC-11.CONCLUSION:The price is right compared to the competition from Metabones that I have not yet tested. However, I don’t feel I need to. The Sigma MC-11 looks great in combination with Canon lenses and Sony bodies, has a build quality to match, and is the ideal bridge to meet the advantages of Sony system over my old amigo Canon.Hope this long review has been of some small help. HAPPY SHOOTING!

Looks very well made
Made by Sigma for some (not all) Sigma, and some other specific brand lenses. Not all camera controls work for all lenses but I have had good luck using some of my Canon lenses (mostly a f2.8 70-200 L) and getting good focus control mounted on Sony a6000 series cameras (a6000, 6300 and 6500). I buy my Sigma lenses in Canon EF mount because I switched to Sony mirrorless systems some time ago and and can now use Canon, Sigma and Sony lenses as needed. I have had very good luck using the MC-11 mount, this is the best price I could find anywhere and Amazon delivers right away and is easy to work with if there is a problem.

Works Great!
I am currently using this on a Sony a7ii. I was a little worried buying this adapter since it only supports Sigma lenses. I have not had any issues getting this to work with any non-Sigma lenses. I have used it with Canon, Tamron, and Tokina branded lenses with no issues. Auto focus works fine but is somewhat slower. Also depending on the lens when using manual focus the camera does not zoom in to assist with focus. I do keep the firmware updated whenever they release a new one and its not that hard to do. If you are not willing to pay double the price for the Metabones adapter you should definitely get the MC-11.

Eased transition to mirrorless camera
After many loyal years with Canon Cameras, I finally jumped ship to the Sony A7Riii. The MC-11 is a must have to continue using full frame Canon and Sigma lens. Just remember to update the firmware via USB cable, no dock required. Not every lens is a perfect match. Some are better than others. Example, the Canon 24-105L comes really close to native Sony Glass. Sony glass is pricy therefore the MC-11 is an awesome transition or permanent tool depending on your approach: mixed brands or Sell Canon lens and switch to all native Sony mount lens. Connection was easy. Solid Sigma quality. Fast delivery.

It just works. Make sure to update the firmware.
I was not expecting native level performance from this device but I was totally blown away. My Canon lenses adapt to my A7iii and perform like Sony lenses. In fact, my 70-200 is sharper on the Sony, and the autofocus beats the 85 1.4 GM. The sigma 35 performs identically to the native EF mount version, except for focusing noise, and even my unsupported Canon lenses work with full AF, including eye AF. At 249 this is a must have, but at the $149 sale price it’s a no brainer. Canon lenses are going for huge discounts now thanks to people going mirrorless. It’s a great time to acquire some stellar glass!
