Right out of the box, the back of the remote was really difficult to take off. I thought I might have to return it. However, after tugging at the two sides for a few minutes, I decided to take my fingernail around the perimeter to separate two pieces. Again another 5-ish minutes of tugging/sliding the front and back pieces in opposite directions, the remote finally came apart and I was able to place the two AA batteries in. I was able to put the remote back together quite easily, and voila the remote worked like a charm. No need to program, this replacement controlled our Samsung TV perfectly. I did notice there isn't a voice activation button, but my daughter was the only one who used it on the original remote (for youtube so she didn't have to type in what she wanted to watch). We are really happy with this purchase and I would definitely recommend to friends who own the same television. The volume and channel toggles fail quickly on the OEM model. They *always* felt squishy, uncertain, ready to fail — 9 months later they did.This replacement feels *solid* and works great!Added bonus is that it lacks the truly annoying dedicated Netflix, Prime, hulu buttons as well as the voice command that frequently reacted to casual conversations in the room. Wish they’d fix the ridiculous, difficult to open battery compartment.

Works great with my Samsung TV bought from Costco five years ago and works with my SONOS playbar as well. It needs an RF transmitter too. So this control provides what I need.

Worked pretty good as a replacement remote. Our original decided to stop working back in November. Bought this one and that one went out so we're now buying another but for the price it is worth it.

I don't like the old-school controller that came with my Samsung TV and finally decided to look for a more modern design. I was skeptical at first, seeing this was very affordable. But it's extremely good value. 100% worth the few bucks, would buy again if i lost my remote or firestick remote.Battery cover is a strange design, but otherwise it's an incredible deal.

Someone spilled some milk on our original remote. It had a miraculous and magical recovery on Christmas morning, but then kept conking out randomly. I ordered a new Samsung original at a more expensive price, but also got this to try as a backup, lest more accidents happen. This one has worked so well that we haven't even had to open the other new one yet! The one downside we notice vs. the original is that you do have to point it at the TV - a little less convenient, but not a big deal.

I had to return the first one I got because not all the buttons worked. The replacement works fine for all the native TV functions, but unlike the genuine Samsung remote, it will not control an HDMI-connected unit (Apple TV). Also, it won't work for some TV setup/settings options, such as choosing closed-caption location on screen. Also, sometimes the 123 button to choose a channel won't work until I press that button on the original remote (left-arrow stopped working) — after that, pressing the button on this discount unit works for quite a while.

This was bought in addition to the much larger and more complicated remote that came with the TV. It is great for ease of use and the number of buttons are limited to those most often used. The mute feature turns on by simply pressing the volume button straight down instead of toggling it up and down. That was the only feature I had missed on the larger remote (I hate commercials) but once I discovered how it worked, I've got all I need.
