No regrets on this exceptional value
All the tablet I needed for a very reasonable price. I never owned an Android device before this and I was concerned it would be a painful switch, but there isn't much of a learning curve and I don't feel at all deprived. Compared with an iPad mini the LG V400 is an excellent value proposition. I agonized over a tablet purchase for myself for Christmas and spent way to many hours researching. I ended up with this. How do I feel? No regrets.I use this for consuming web content and watching videos and works perfectly for that. I've dabbled with games and while the iTunes game selection is far better, this isn't the ideal tablet if (for some strange reason) you want a "gaming" tablet. It does run the games I've tried, however load times are long on app start-up. This is probably due to the 1 gig of ram, but it's certainly enough for web content. I have two or three tabs open in the browser without issue, but I do make sure to close any other apps I'm not using. You really ought to anyway. Good tablet hygiene is important. Anywho...Comparing with a last gen iPad Mini this screen looks better, and contrasting with the current, I'd still say the LG holds up pretty well. The screen is very nice, but the favorable comparison has more to do with Apple falling way behind on display technology. In the Android world you can find even prettier screens than this if you want. Again, I'm just reading and watching videos on this and it's very pleasant. The 8 gig internal memory is fine for what I do. If you want to expand it you can, but as this will receive updates you're looking at Lollipop restrictions on transfering apps to an external SD card. As in, you probably can't unless you root it. And even then you still might not be able. The best thing to do here is install apks via OTC cable from PC to an external SD card. That seems to work more often for me.It turns out (everything else being equal) Android isn't any less snappy in any noticeable way and you really don't need the latest chipset for Youtube and Facebook. Crazy, right? The OS was easily updated OTA (wi-fi actually) and I'm running 4.4.2 smoothly. I had no issues with bloatware out of the box. It was fairly easy to streamline the interface to my liking despite having Apple hold my hand through everything with my last tablet. I must say the lack of convenience on Android is wildly overstated on some reviews.Ergonomically I prefer the feel of this tablet to my old iPad. The texture on the back is pleasantly soft and grippy without feeling weird or attracting dirt. I don't think about when I use it. It just feels natural. If you want a smaller form factor I think you'll be happy with this. I was a little concerned that this size screen would feel cramped or eading would be a strain. Having used this almost daily for months now I -- again -- do not feel deprived. It's easy enough to zoom or go to full screen mode on anything if I want and really, holding it in landscape mode makes it both easier to view and more comfortable than my old full size iPad. No fatigue to my hands or eyes. If you want to use it in portrait mode, it is slim enough to easily curl up in one hand for me. However, if you have small hands it may not be comfy. Landscape is the money mode anyway. What else did I agonize over? The sound is nice. Stereo speakers. Not amazing, but not bad. Nice. I will warn you that if you care about taking pictures there's no flash on the back and both cameras (especially the front facing one) are pretty "meh." Kind of rough actually. But I almost always take pictures with my phone anyway, so this was a smart compromise for me.TL;DR: If you want a handy tablet for consuming web content and you're not a heavy gamer or photographer, this may just be the best device for the money you'll find right now. And don't be afraid to switch from Apple and save hundreds of dollars.

More than a toy.
I actually bought this little dude because I wanted to play around with Star Trek launchers and themes. A toy, in other words. And, I have been without a 7" tablet for about a year, and there was an empty space in my pile of tablets.I had forgotten how handy a 7"-er is. It fits much more easily into pockets than my 8" Shield, and for most of the sorts of things I use a tablet for when I'm out and about--having a larger-than-phone screen and battery--it works very well. I guess my biggest surprise is just how competent a 'cheap' tablet can be these days. The build quality is quite solid, the buttons are convenient, the sound is ok, the screen is very pleasant to watch for long periods of time, if not 'poppy'. Everything is competent. The unit I bought was an 'open-box' wi-fi only model, and it seems entirely new. I somewhat regret, because it is so handy, that I didn't go ahead and buy an LTE model. Because this tablet seems to have been a promo for several carriers, there are the LTE versions around for very good prices, often less than the wi-fi.Because I bought it as a Star Wars sort of toy, I loaded it up with all my space and math and physics apps. It was then that I found the short-comings of 8G of storage. But a 32G SD card solved that problem, and now the Raven is off to explore the Borg and more. She's a lot stealthier than an iPad or my Samsung 10" tablet.I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

I love this tablet
I love this tablet! I think it is much more high end than it is given credit for! The build quality is very nice, it feels so comfortable in my hand. It has a wonderful light, smooth, non slippery feel. The screen is nice and bright and crisp. The colors are vibrant and clear. The sound is perfect, full and not tinny at all. I think LG continues to make great products. They pay attention to the smallest details. For instance, on the tablet there is a notification sound of a choir singing "you have mail" that is so much fun! It was very easy to set up and there is a software update to install right out of the box. I just love everything about it. I have many tablets, Samsung, Nexus 7 (2013) and the new Nexus 9, and the LG G pad 8.3 but I must say this g pad 7" is the most enjoyable to use. You can't beat the price either. I use it for email, reading news and books, playing games like solitaire and bingo, youtube, and skype. It also has Qpair to receive phone calls and texts. It is just a great tablet all around. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a first tablet or just looking to try something new! There are also a 10.1 size available and supposedly an 8" size too, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. So as Lg says, life is good!!
