Dexter-Russell 4.5-Inch Stainless Steel and Walnut Pie Server, 4-1/2

Had one and lost it (or an admirer "borrowed" it). Liked it so much searched out same model - fortunately still available. Comfortable sturdy handle. Nice shape to blade - both the "pie" shape and "drop down" from the handle. Perfect gauge steel - thin enough to slice through easily, flexible enough to work the edges of pans and pie plates. handsome too. Nuff said.

Does the job, but I was disappointed with how rough the wood had been left. Steel wool solved that problem quickly, and it's now comfortable to hold. But how hard is it to leave a smooth surface? The finish on the metal was fine, on the other hand.

I needed a pie knife/server like this, and I always try to go with products made here when possible. This is a product whose quality is obviously superior to the junk made in China, and the price is not much more than that of the junk. After washing and drying thoroughly, a rub with mineral oil keeps the walnut handle in good shape.

This pie server is well made, and if the wood is cared for will be around for your grandkids. Only handwash it, and don't let it soak too long. If you want easier cleaning, go with the plastic handle version, which is probably fine to dishwasher.The stainless is good and well finished. Flexibility is just right to get in under the food.

Well-made kitchen utensil. Its brass rivets and wooden handle make it a good match to my mother's Dexter spatula (60 years old and still going strong... I mean the spatula).

The handle is very rough and uncomfortable to hold, it has not been sanded properly.

Put this in your will.
