Good idea needs design improvement
This toy assembles with tiny screws and nuts. So tighten 4 tiny screws on each leg. Then move it so that the leg is in a position to hold the body up, and well those screws are now loose. This thing is a nightmare to assemble. Plus once things are loosely put together you cannot get to most of them to tighten. Some sort of o-rings or friction discs need to be added to the design to allow positioning of the legs without loosening all other joints. I bought this for my 4 year old thinking that we can build it together then he could play with it. He was unable to help me at all. It was a nightmare for me to put together and I am an experienced mechanical engineer who works in a tool and die shop. Needless to say it is assembled and will now have to sit on a shelf. If you play with it the screws will back out and the thing will fall apart.

A "togetherness" toy...unless the owner's a teenager.
I bought this for a 10 y.o. The parts are small, so one needs patience and dexterity (not always the attributes of a 10 year old or many adults. My daughter-in-law constructed another one of Wild Republic's animals and worked along with my grandson. The difficulty is only in handling the tiny pieces...which my son knew was beyond his big hands.Of course the obvious is don't give this to a child much younger. Too many small parts which can be easily lost, ingested by pets (if they fall on the floor), and spoil having a nice finished product. However, basically it's a clever and attractive toy (more for display than play) and if it teaches that everything isn't instant gratification and gets them away from the TV or all the "thumb exercising" electronic gadgets...that's okay too. You know...like books.

Get ready for a headache
OK, if you're buying this for a child... don't. Although I see how it could be assembled and displayed on the shelf buy an adult this thing frustrated me to the end.- The nuts constaly come loose while you're working on other pieces.- The instructions are nothing more than photos at various stages of construction. They can be followed with a little intuition though.- It actually makes sense to put the "head" on last despite the images telling you to put it on first. Otherwise it's in the way.- The legs are easy to assemble but hard to do the finall attachment to the base plate because the holes are almost too close. We ended up bending the metal to make it work. After about 1.5 hours of construction, it was loose and falling apart literally in 5 minutes of play. Not rough play. Just walking it on the table. If you have gallons of loctite and some rolls of duct tape it may stay together better.

Not Kid Friendly
This object looks pretty cool when its built, but it is not suitable as a kid product. Its difficult to build, the directions are terrible, and although the parts are movable, they loosen up and are extremely difficult to 'tighten'.

Very nice and great fun to put together except
My son and I put this together, unfortunately, although the directions were not as good as they could be and it really looks cool, the screws won't stay fastened. If you buy this you will need to go buy very thin lockwashers and the screws may not be long enough. I really like its looks and my son thinks its cool but whenever you tuch it or pick it up it falls into a shapeless mass and one has to go tighten everything up again and gingerly put it on a table. It can not be played with and the slightest touch it becomes loose no matter how hard you tighten. Too sad really.
