The Trail West

I don't know what people are expecting, but these are 200 ( maybe 199) Classic Westerns. "CLASSIC" ( if you're uncertain, replace that with O-L-D ). Most are in Black & White, most probably in The Public Domain. All of mine seem to be in good working condition. This is a Mill Creek product and they specialize in box sets of old to very old shows and movies. Also I *think* this 200 film set is discontinued and has been split up into four 50 movie box sets. Don't see it on the Mill Creek site. I have this set, plus the 150 TV Western show set, and add to that three of their Crime & Mystery sets. Happy with them all. They're handy for if we lose internet and a joy for watching/dozing/background noise if I'm ill in bed and not up to reading. And really - even the worst is better than most modern shows airing. Prime Time Game Shows? Reality TV? Not me buddy. My IQ is higher than that.

I bought this DVD set for my dad who loves westerns. I have watched bits of some of the movies with him so far and noticed that the quality varies by movie. None of them appear to have been remastered, which can make viewing some of them on an HDTV a bit like the experience of watching a show over an antenna that's not getting a great signal (a bit fuzzy around the edges), and one that he watched suffered from poor sound quality (though for the most part, the sound on these movies from the stereo speakers of my parents' TV has been just as good as any other DVD). However, I'm satisfied with what we got for the price, and, overall, my dad seems very happy with them, which is the most important point. He even mentioned that he had already watched some movies in this set that he had never seen before, so if you are or know someone who is really into the genre and are looking for a decent, budget priced set with a lot of variety, this set should meet those needs quite well.

As advertised

Sofar pretty good. Has a little bit of everything. Actually seems to be multiple other DVD Sets compiled together. Most of the DVDs are double sided and then a handful were single sided and had a graphic painted on them. Personally i did not use them directly in a DVD player i converted them to computer video because dealing with a huge set of DVDs is a pain. Most seemed to be 2ch audio but a few did have 5.1 audio. Overall i think it was a good deal.

The black and white movies are about a 3, the color movies are a 4 star. I like that it gives a lot of movies for the price. With 200 movies you're going to get some good ones and some bad

Gave as an xmass gift to my dad who is hard to buy for. He loves them.

This is a huge variety of movies! Some common, and some fairly obscure. It was a gift to my DAd. He loved it.
