Just what the doctor ordered.
Works perfectly for what I need, and it doesn’t break the bank. I use it to rough leather mid soles to prep them for gluing to the cork bottom of boots. Roughs the leather evenly. Works just as well on rubber soles.I’ll buy another when this one wears out.

This tool is great at scratching the surface of your leather to ready it for proper gluing. How I worked in leather for over 50 years and not had one of these in a mystery

Great for pointe shoes!
This is the best one I’ve found. I had another one but it went missing and has since been discontinued. If you’re gentle enough, you can also rough up the bottoms of suede slippers and Irish dance shoe bottoms.

Works great. So much easier to use than a blade or awl. Glued pieces have a better surface adhesion

Get a grip! Great for leather soles
I used this to rough up a pair of pointe shoe soles for slippery Marley flooring. It’s super easy and quick. I can’t speak to the longevity of the tool but it feels and looks extremely well made. Get this instead of the ones advertised for dance shoes!

nice tool unlike a wire brush the angled bristles are sharp making it very effective at ruffing up leatherfits in the hand well and a replaceable bristle pad is available good price for US import

Came damaged
The hand rougher arrived damaged on the wood. Looks like the wood split when one of the screws was put in.
