Perfect for proteciton and comfort! Great Product
Exactly what I was looking for. I've got big old meat mits for hands, and even with my New 3DS XL my hands will start to cramp up within an hour of playing. I was looking for something to protect my shiny new Pokemon SuMo edition New 3DS XL and was originally looking at the hard-shell clear cases. However these would do nothing for the ergonomic issues I was facing or protecting the system from a substantial fall. This case is able to handle both of those issues wonderfully. I played using this case for about 5 hours yesterday and didn't have any cramping in my hands/writs/arms whatsoever! The grips fits perfectly in my hands and the triggers even work for hitting R and L (you still have to reach for the smaller, interior shoulder buttons). The padding is excellent around the sensitive parts of the system, especially the extended top corners for protecting the screen corners from drops. I haven't actually drop tested it (because I'm not intentionally dropping my SuMo DS lol) but it seems like it will definitely provide decent protection in such a situation. The only cons I can list are the fact that it's missing a cut-out for the cartridge slot, but you can easily pull down the bottom left corner to switch your game cartridge and pop it back in place in under 5 seconds. You could also use a razor\xacto to cut a hole (as others have shown) but I rarely change the cartridge so I can just pull the corner down when needed. The only other issue is that it's a magnet for pet hair, however it's a side effect of the silicone material it's made out of and not their fault in any way. Both of my 'cons' are very minor so I have not removed any stars, definitely recommended to anyone looking for both protection for their system and great ergo experience for extended game play sessions.

TL;DR review of product after month of usage, and initial scepticism on it being too big. Read if you're worried. :^}
I probably wouldn't read a long review like this either, so you should probably just skip to pros and cons like 9/10 people usually do. ;^}Thoughts on it being silicone.A lot of cases today have been using silicone, plastic, or a combination of both, and I'm really, REALLY not a fan of silicone due to its likelihood of stretching after frequent removal — if you have ever owned an Otterbox phone/tablet case, then you'll know how loose it'll become over time. I've had no issues with the grip because its flexibility gives it just enough 'wiggle room' (I'm talking 2mm) for it to not have stress put on it when removed, but not enough wiggle room for you to worry about it ever coming off, or wiggling around. I'm guessing that they did this because when holding a silicone grip, the silicone will bend no matter what.Comfort and design:The way that they used the silicone when making the thickness of the grip/case is super intuitive and helps give the grip a cushiony feeling. They built the grip by having the walls of the grip and protector being a shell, while the inside is ribbed with dozens of vertical strips of silicone; this design makes the case not weigh an insane amount while giving the user flexibility and more comfort, as it will flex more easily with your hand. The only issue I can think of is that there isn't a cut-out for the insertion/removal of cartridges, but since you can easily slip off the bottom part of the grip, it won't take you any longer than a second to change games.Oh, and I had no idea that a silicone mould would be cut as accurately as it is for my DS. I included pictures showing how accurate the mould is.Hand size:My palm size from wrist to beginning of middle finger is 4", while my middle finger is 3", and that causes me to always worry about the size of a product. Because of this, the amount of scepticism I had when ordering this product was enough for me to have ordered it with the expectation that I'd end up needing to return it.But this product, despite how bulky it looks will fit comfortably with both big hands (let my 6'3" friend try the grip) and small hands since the design of the grip is made to be both stubby, and thick. That might sound like it wouldn't fit small hands well, but the makers came up with the solution of having the grips slope from the thickest part to the base having a very steep incline, allowing you to move your hands closer up without losing any reach or comfort.Function:If you primarily play JRPG games like Pokemon and Fire Emblem, then you probably don't need this grip unless you're looking for a case, and think that the grip is just a bonus. This grip is perfect for games like Monster Hunter, LoZ, Smash Bros, and any other game that will require your hands quickly moving to buttons around the DS. When I say that you "don't need this", I'm saying that if you're wanting a grip to help performance and not worried about ergonomics, then you probably won't find this case that useful. Me, however, I'd like to have this case just because I like console-style grips in general.Pros and cons (you're welcome):•Comfortable•Durable.•Fits all hand sizes.•Intuitive design.•I added a pros and cons section.Cons:•No hole for removing cartridge, but doesn't create much inconvenice due to overall product design.•Too good to be true.•This review was too long.Conclusion:This product, despite how much of a gimmick it seems, provides the same function as a controller used for consoles, with the added bonus of it being more comfortable. No matter what your hand size is, this should fit to it comfortably and without any issues with reaching every button on the DS. Whether you want to up your game, (as corny as that sounds) or would just like a grip to have, stop reading my try-hard review and order it.

Got a used product and wrong product (not even for 3ds XL)
It had dirt and some hair on it, i guess cats or dogs? It does not fit my 3DS XL. This feels like a prank. Its missing the top part and it had no boxing.
