good glass - great value
Good wildlife pictures at a great price. Think of this as the "kit lens" of moderately long focal length. You can spend 2 to 20 K for a superb lens. Most people don't need (and can't afford) that much glass. This is reasonably light, reasonably quick focusing, sufficiently sharp, particularly in central area. Even hand held 500mm shots are clear. Using a rest or tripod is better, of course. Overall a great value that is better - way better - than I anticipated for the price.

the quality of the picture is much better with the 150-500 lens
I found that the lens does not bing in birds any closer than the coolpix 510 that my wife uses. However, the quality of the picture is much better with the 150-500 lens. I am not sure if that is the lens or the Nikon D7000 that we use.
