Does this take 3 core wire or just 2 core?

it can take 3 core too as there is screw in terminal for earth wire at the side of the switch .

Hi, This dimmer is a trailing edge dimmer. Trailing edge dimmers work by cuting out the second half of each AC waves’ half cycle. These are now the more common type of dimmer as they are generally compatible with dimmable LED lamps - however not all LED lamps are dimmable or compatible with trailing edge dimmers so you would need to check if the lamp is compatible.

Would this dimmer be suitable with 25 x 1w led bulbs on a cord?

In theory this should be ok, however it depends on the inrush current of the lamps when you first switch them on. LED lamps always pull more current when they initially are turned on, so this has been tested and rated at up to 25W if using a single LED lamp, however without knowing the inrush current of the lamps you intend to use it may stress the dimmer. It may be safer to contact an electrician who will be able to test the initial inrush current.
