Flamenco Explained

Another student at a recent Festival Flamenco guitar workshop had a copy of this book and I wish it was the text for the program. The workshop was great but the traditional way of learning Flamenco by observing and trying to follow masters would benefit enormously from this book. This is especially true if you can read music and have at least basic experience with classical guitar techniques.

Amazon's packing stinks. The book was thrown into a box without packing material. It was all bent on arrival.The book is an excellent overall view and explanation of Flamenco guitar. It is not for the absolute beginner. You can learn Flamenco as an absolute beginner, but you will need a teacher. If you are brand new to guitar, don't know how to read music or tabs you will feel lost. If guitar is not new and you can read music and tabs, go for it! I found the explanations and examples very detailed and informative. The ability to see the video examples online greatly enhances the value of the book and teachings. At 67 years old I am enjoying my exploration into the fundamentals of playing Flamenco guitar. I can see and hear progress after only a few weeks. The book is enabling me to understand the styles and how they all fit together. It makes watching videos of Flamenco players much more enjoyable. Great book to own.

I recommend without reservations. I do think it would be difficult for a totally new guitarist. Fyi: The videos at their website do not seem to show all the songs in this book, which I would love. When I have more time I'll try out their membership to see all the video /tutorials.

This is a well-written book set up for the beginner, intermediate and professional guitarist. backed up with a very professional and easy-to-understand website you can't go wrong with this purchase. great player examples the company the book there is a membership to some of the website videos but there's a lot to be learned from the free versions. I would give more stars if possible.

Just what I was looking for.

Great book on helping to understand the basics of flamenco guitar

This is one of the best method books I've seen about Flamenco. I highly recommend it.

I've tried a lot of Flamenco books, and I'd say this is definitely the best for people who already play basic guitar, and want to learn Flamenco. The material is good, and isn't simplified, but also isn't overly difficult/complex (a lot of other beginner books are simplified to the point of uselessness). Material follows traditional format, but with a modern sound.There's also a website, with free videos of what everything in the book should sound like, and explanation of some flamenco techniques and concepts. A lot of the explanation videos require a monthly subscription- but some are free. Everything is very high quality and well presented.

Excellent book backs up the internet/app online course. If you are new learner to flamenco this is the best course I have found, it goes as fast or slow as you want it too and the book gives the same instructions as the online course. Well worth the money.

This book is designed to work in conjunction with a subscription website and a Facebook page, both labelled Flamenco Explained. In my opinion, these, together with live streams on Facebook, provide a really solid grounding in Flamenco guitar that is both hugely accessible and highly entertaining. Can't recommend highly enough. A great resource for those just setting out on a Flamenco guitar journey!

Flamenco guitar was traditionally taught as a language. Approaching flamenco as a subject that has meaning may be appropriate for a semiotician but for someone wanting to learn how to play and understand the music it is a game changer. This book sets you off along that path. It is fully supported through the web site of the same name. This book opens up a wealth of content, Kai Narezo has a distinct asset as a tutor, he appears to be compelled to describe everything he does while he is doing it. He also has a passion for the music and a passion for sharing his knowledge of it.

Mi è piaciuto l'approccio didattico non centrato quasi esclusivamente, come invece fanno quasi tutti gli altri metodi di chitarra flamenco, sulle tecniche esecutive ma su i concetti su cui appoggiarsi per arrivare a costruire in proprio pezzo "a compàs". E' finora disponibile solo in lingua inglese e l'autore gestisce un sito web e un canale YouTube con cui è possibile approfondire alcuni aspetti parzialmente trattati nel volume in oggetto.

Not that good for beginners. The author assume you have a good knowledge of the guitar and how to read music or tabs. I was able to learn more from free youtube lessons far more quickly than from this waste of money.
