I cut open a micro-USB cable and soldered it into one of these guys to make a perfect-length yet MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE higher-voltage cable for my Tilta Nucleus Nano follow focus motor. Works great, and now the Tilta motor can easily spin my most heavily damped photography lenses, like the Zeiss Milvus set, and I got rid of the pesky USB battery pack too.The USB cable didn't grip tightly in the stress-relieving boot on this connector, so after soldering and testing, I just filled the interior with hot glue before screwing it shut. Pretty much indestructible now, at least until that awful Micro-USB connector wears out as they always do. But hey, this pack came with TWO D-tap connectors, so... obviously I'll just make another one.

It's almost a 3-handed operation to assemble one of these, because when you have the shell apart there are 2 pins, 2 shell sides, a plastic plug for one side, and a plastic cable strain relief for the other side that need to be juggled in place while you screw it back together. The pins are not really suitable for crimping, you pretty much have to solder the wires to them. But if you actually succeed in getting one back together, it seems reasonably sturdy, and it's not as though you have to do it more than once. So for the price they're fine (although I would have preferred the wires to come out the back rather than the sides, but it is what it is.)

Seems OK would have been nice to have a proper strain relief t hold the cable. Had to use RTV to hold the cable in the connector.
