These things do work but the sensitivity is all over the place (i guess thats why it uses the black lenses compared to clear/white for most brands).Sometimes they go off in the sunlight, or if a wet plant moves in the wind (i used mine for a water sprinkler to keep the stray cats away, it turns on then because of the water and sunlight on the plants nearby it keeps self activating and stays on in a constant loop).I wouldnt buy these again but i guess they have a better purpose in an indoor environment. The timer adjustment was good (i have one set to 5-10seconds and another at 30seconds, both work well in that respect)I did have one wire break or become detached as theres no strain relief on the cables. Need to fix or replace.Probably ideal for cupboards or someplace dark where they wont be disturbed much.

Made a critter sprayer, works perfectly
I heard a tapping noise one morning and found several buzzards on my back patio, pecking at the sliding glass doors. After quickly checking my pulse, I realized they weren’t here for me. Wife was not cooking, so… wrong house? Turns out they think there are other buzzards in the mirrored glass. I chased them off, but they kept coming back. And they’re messy. This PIR switch was just what I needed. I didn’t want to hurt the birds, so I decided to use this PIR switch to build a motion activated sprayer. It has adjustment pots for both sensitivity and duration, and now when critters come onto my porch, they get sprayed with water for about 1 or 2 seconds at a time until they leave.I love that I can adjust the length of time they get sprayed. Most switches available in 12-24V can’t be adjusted down past 30 seconds, which is way more than I needed. This one goes all the way down to one second, which is just what I needed. You could use this for lighting in a cabinet or safe, and adjust the time to any length you want. It’s super sensitive, and I’ve seen it chase away everything from squirrels to raccoons to buzzards. But I also like that you could reduce the sensitivity if you only wanted to spray maybe dog, or even mother-in-law-sized things. This isn’t waterproof by any means, but it was easy to seal from the elements with a little silicone. Mine has been rained on many many times with no problems. The back pops off easily so you can adjust the pots on the circuit board for sensitivity and duration with a small screwdriver.Love it, and would order again.Pros -+ Adjustable for sensitivity and duration.+ Highly sensitive – effective on things as small as birds.+ Can reduce duration to as low as one second, much shorter than almost any other switch available.+ Perfect for any trigger from 12 to 24V.+ Flat ends allow use of zip ties, or there are screw holes in tiny side wings.Cons -- None.

Just what I needed!
Installed it inside my mailbox, which then activates a raspberry pi, which then sends me an email to let me know my mail has been delivered (or tampered with I guess). The timer delay is nice and it keeps power flowing to the raspberry pi long enough to boot up, send an email, then power back down. The things this could be used for are amazing, your minds imagination is the only limit to it's potential implementations. BTW, if you read all of this, just know that I didn't do all of that, I just thought it would be a fun idea on something to create. It's 100% possible to do that with this device though. Currently the one I bought I installed at my mothers home, she's old and I have installed LED lights along the floorboards of her hallways and places like that. So this simply turns those LEDs on when she walks by, so she doesn't trip and fall or something like that. I also have the power source connected to a smart plug, which has a time of day timer set, so the lights and sensor only works at night. Oh and BTW again, if you are still reading this, just know that I didn't actually use it for that either honestly, but I could've. What I actually used it for, was simply turning on the LED's in my kitchen, so I don't have to turn on the bright AF lights at night to see when I want to go get some water. That's the honest implementation that I currently have the device set in use for and it works really well. Would highly recommend this device to others and I might just buy a few more soon for future projects, just incase this device ever goes missing on amazon.

pretty neat
i like this sensor. it works very well. MY issue is getting the timing and the sensitivity down to where i want it.now on a side note again i wish that amazon had a multi rating system or multiple areas to rate this product in. i took that fifth star away only because the two settings are abit touchy. i would rather for my application the settings be more in a wider range. an example would be in increments of 5sec hash style marks for the time on, and for the sensitivity maybe in meter/feet or some other value. you dont even have to put that on the circuit board but in the drawings themselves. so you can match it to your needs quicker. so its more my issue then theirs.the senor itself is tiny. say no bigger then a wooden match book or a "zippo" style lighter.the sensor was used indoors in an enclosed semi open space aka my garage.i would also like to see the leads be a tad bit longer but thats just for my porpoise. ;-) the idea would be to center the sensor in the room so that if you have multi entrances you can install it in away where it was tripped from either/any direction. but i might have a work around for that too.the company that i purchased from sent me an email with a better diagram of the inside of the of the sensor. i liked that. they took the time to talk to send that with an updated picture/schematic.they get five stars.so BLUF,,,, get it learn how to adjust it and then well use it.thanks!
