We use 1.5mil and 2mil bags. They seal fine.

How do you change the fuse? Does the cover twist off or pull off?

Do you need to buy special bags or can you use to seal any bag like chips and misc bags?

I bought  1 gallon Mylar bags ( 5 mil) and O2 absorbers for long term food storage.  I found the LinsnField 16” worked best on the #3 heat setting.  I followed the instructions for timing the sealing duration and every bag was a success.  I read some reviews that stated the heating element had burned out.  Heeding that warning, I used only the amount of heat necessary for a full and complete seal (#3).  It took a little bit of experimentation but I haven’t yet had one malfunction.  I hope this helps.  Initially I tried my kitchen vacuum sealer bags and it was a complete waste of time, so I can’t recommend those.
