Dark Guardian: A Carpathian Novel (The Dark Book 9)

A Good Read!
I was happy that Lucian found Jaxon. Jaxon was, for a ‘kickass’ woman, overwhelmed frequently by her circumstances. I found this surprising given her training, job etc. Still, it was a great story with action, adventure and a slow romance. Love this series.

Love It!!!!!!
I so enjoyed Lucien & Jaxson's story. He was great, of course he was a dominant alpha, but so tender, loving and patient with her. And so romantic too, I mean decorating his home as per the images he had picked from her mind, and the ending he gave her was perfect. Jaxson (for the most part) was my kind of heroine: beautiful, strong, resourceful and very smart. I loved reading about how she adapted about now being Carpethian and using her new powers. And I was very grateful (that unlike the heroine in "Dark Secret", a book I recently read and hated) she was not in a perpetual lust frenzy, 24/for/7. Jaxso does experience desire for the hero, but with moderation and never in a demeaning sort of way. And most importantly to me, there is a lot of the hero's point of view throughout the book, what he is feeling, thinking etc. Yes, there are the inevitable graphic love scenes, but if you are like me, you can skip some of those pages, for the rest of the story is too fabulous to miss. However, there were a few things I did not like. I did not say the book was perfect, but rather that I loved it. For starter we have a very tinyheroine yet again. Secondly, I know in the animal world the male of the species, has the longer feathers, the nicer mane, but in the human world, I like for the woman's hair to be longer, or at least as long as the he. Trivial I know, but I am writing about my personal likes in my reading material. Also I love when the heroines are very in touch with their Amazonic side, but I rather they be femenine and elegant, instead of somewhat of tomboy as Jaxson is (althoughe she is femenine in her own sort of way). And finally what bothered me the most was the heroine's self image, though she was supposed to be beautiful she does not think she is . And worse she does not think she deserves him, because he is so gorgeous that he deserves someone (who unlike her) is tall, beautiful and elegant. That was a big turn off for me. Not the mental pictures I want. I gues one cannot have every fantasy fulfill in a book. Still all in all, this book was really wonderful.

One of my favorites
After what happened in some of the later books, where women were treated as second class citizens or run over by the men in the books, in this one the heroine is a partner and a strong, independent woman. In a later book a relationship started off with a semi-rape sexual assault scene and it was sickening. Almost stopped reading her books forever after what happens to Gabrielle when she meets her “lifemate”. Be forewarned because it could be a triggering event/scene and was really disgusting even though afterward it was because of a misunderstanding. This one was the complete opposite and I really do gravitate towards the characters that are strong women and partners to their men. Another good example would be the one about Ivory and Razvan around book 25 or so.I honestly wish they would all be like them. Her later books also always seem to cut off at the end and are about 50 pages too short…such as a teaser ending to the next book. Can be disappointing when the story seems to cut off without a good ending.Overall this is a very interesting series and there are a lot of good reads throughout. I do hope if Feehan, the author ever reads the reviews I hope she takes into account some of my feedback. We don’t need women to be run over and weak to be a good read or just to make a romance novel that focuses on more dominant men. Please keep the women characters strong and full partners. This is not the 70’s it’s 2021, and it’s time for those type of romances to be relegated to the past!

Good but stretched…
Some areas seemed to drag…**Spoiler Alert**How can Jaxon be 5’1 and he sounds like he’s about 6’5 but there’s a scene where she leaning against him, her but is brushing against his P***is and she reaches back to bite his neck 🤔 I reread that part because the entire thing seemed a little unclear. It didn’t say he lifted her… sorry, I’m so technical and detailed… it threw off the imagination.

Twin's story continues
I loved the way this story started off, it made me want to keep reading. The heroine was a real ass-kicker and a challenge to the great hunter! I still find too much sex with her going down on him as well as him doing same on her, chapter after chapter.

Just when I think she cant possibly do another amazing read she brings it out of the bag
Totally thrilling and highly sensual and emotional. The Dark series by christine Feehan will have you on the endge of your seat with every read. Despite the sheer number if books in the series the stories are all uniquely individual. Just when I think she cant possibly do another amazing read she brings it out of the bag. No two reads are the same.

やっぱりLucian
