Not brush Pen Friendly paper
I really like this notebook. It helps with practicing any Japanese kana and Kanji. My one and only complaint is --you really can not use brush pens they will bleed through. I have started using art pencil using a Mitsubishi 6B pencil and there is no shadowing and the lines are thick like a brush pen.

Far too much disorganised white space.
Not really worth paying for. There's nothing special about the grids and there's far too much empty space around the edges. Of course, you can write in the huge margins if you want, but it will look messy. Blank or lined pages for more advanced practice are one thing and could have been useful, but these are orphaned blocks of a few squares floating in the middle of a huge page and that's unhelpful for both complete beginners or advanced writers. The quartered squares, which were what I particularly wanted, were far too big (~2cm per kanji!) and the total amount of that type of grid was tiny and only filled a fraction of the available page. I far preferred the practice paper I downloaded free and printed off. There are tools that let you decide your own grid style and size easily available online, I certainly wouldn't pay for this again.Arguably this book is designed for children rather than adult learners, but I think most of the problems I encountered would be the same. Do Japanese children really start out by wiring their kanji in 2cm squares and then scale them down??
