From Ireland to India Engaging Graphics and Poetry-Style Storytelling for the Young
This story in poetry-style of Amy Carmichael's life in Ireland as a young girl to womanhood on the mission field of India is a nice addition to a children's library. Some of the page art is darker and somewhat menacing, but not overly graphic. The depictions match the print on the page and I could see a child wanting to hear the story over and over. It's quality made and definitely gift-worthy. This is also a nice incentive prize, which is my use for it, to a children's group studying Amy Carmichael.

Great Introduction to Amy Carmichael
This book is a great introduction to Amy Carmichael for little children. The poetry doesn't have the best flow of any children's book I've read. However, the illustrations are very interesting I think and help to activate the child's imagination of the part of the missionary's life being communicated.

Very good young reader book
Perfect little book to read to beginning readers. For the kids who need practice to become good readers. It rhymes and conveys a snippet into Amy’s life. It encouraged one of my kids to trust Jesus as their Savior and to want to serve the Lord. Praise God for testimonies like Amy’s that will endure forever and for books like these to tell stories of hero’s of faith.

Great for kids
We enjoyed reading this poetry style book with our 6 year old! It’s best for kids to know about Amy Carmichael first though before they read this book as it is not an intro type.

Great Read Aloud
We love the Heroes series and this book is the perfect read aloud for younger kids. My 6 & 8 yr olds enjoyed learning about a missionary's experiences. It is a good length and well written; my kids didn't lose interest.

Nope.
I purchased this book for my 7 year-old to read, but I was disappointed in it.1. It's written in verse--and not *good* verse. I would have appreciated this book so much more if it had been written in good-quality prose instead of verse. I don't even want to read it aloud to her because of this (I'm not opposed to poetry, but....)2. The illustrations are kind of meh.3. The print isn't exactly small, but...it feels very distracting--like there's a lot of it on one pageI had very high hopes for this book, but they were, sadly, not achieved. I've tucked this book away on the off chance that my daughter may someday want to read it. In the meantime, I'll introduce her to Amy Carmichael some other way.
