expensive garbage
This thing is expensive garbage.#1 problem, the connection between the leader hose and the unit. I assembled it together and hooked it up, and it leaked. Then i remembered a random O ring in the package that fell on the floor. Getting that O ring in place was a pain. It was either good engineering not putting it on because it was difficult to put on and it would be cheaper to let the consumer put it in: or just a garbage product. I choose the latter. If you do buy this, which i don't advise, just spray as much wd40 as you can on the ring and connector and get a wide dull screwdriver (that one you pry stuff with) and is thin. tape a set of pliers and squeze the fitting to make it oblong and start stuffing it in there. It is def a pain. once you get part in, squeeze the fitting the other way and jam it in. You really got to get it up in there. i got it so i could get 1 thread for the hose on and tightened it up and it sent it home. that connection is garbage, there are tons of other ways to make that connection and will be terrible, but its better than this one.#2. the tires. I have used a bunch of these type of tires. they inflate and what not but in about a month they will be flat. I tightened all the bolts holding the two pieces together to help keep the pressure for some amount of time.#3. the bearings in the wheels, a bushing would have been fine, no need for ball bearings. They barely even spin freely.#4. the "axel" that the wheels go on. Its a, I think, 5/8 bolt. The threads of the bolt are what are ridding on the bore for the frame. Garbage. The fit isn't even great either. the threads will surely galle up and have a looser fitment on the bore. Along with this they use a short lock nut. there isn't even a set of threads that go past the nut, which it should. It barely tightens up all the way.#5. The screws that hold everything together. they are supposed to be tightened up against the frame with no washer in between. that connection is surely to come loose over time without a washer. along with no washer the frame is going to get all messed up and such. i added 4 washer, one for each screw. To add those to the product would have cost prob $.50 per 100 units. this thing is cheap. There is no reason for there to be inflated tires. this thing goes outside and is not heavy, some standard plastic wheels with rubber threads would be fine. Along with this the axle could be shortened because there wouldn't be so much tire, and bore for the tire. Put a dam bushing or at least have most of the shoulder of the bolt running in the bore for the frame, then you could use a full size lock nut. or even the small one, which would leave more threads past the nut. The connection between the hose and the leader hose is terrible. I don't think there could be a worse connection. once you get the O ring in, and tighten it up, a good portion of the O ring is pushed out the connection between the pipe and the connector.Just terrible.Edit: I just thought about it an i prob installed the O ring wrong. still returning it but just a fyi

Beware!
The tires, if you could call them that, are horrible. They are more like plastic doughnuts that happen to fit on the wheels. The hose real came w/ plastic like (not rubber) tires that developed cracks and leaked air after just 6 months of use rendering them flat. The flat black round things (I can't call them tires) make it very difficult to move the hose reel around. My other complaint would be that when rolling up a hose, you need to place your foot on the lower frame/bar to keep the unit steady and in place while winding the hose onto the reel. We are using the reel with a 50' rubber hose, I can't imagine rewinding a 100' or 150' hose onto this reel. Save your dollars and look for an alternative, this reel is not worth the $88. No idea what new RUBBER tires will cost.

Tires will Go First, and then Your Patience
I've had this for only 2 years. This spring I took it out of the basement storage and filled the tires. They were flat from the winter/temp changes. One of the tires is constantly flat. I filled it again. Next day, it was flat again. I read reviews about the tires, so I examined it really close and noticed it was cracked. Mind you, this is less than 2 years old and I paid about $100. I called Yard Butler and they would not replace the tire. They said I can buy a tire off the website for $8.99 + $9.95 shipping. Also, not sure how this can hold 175 feet of hose. It tips when you are trying to turn the reel. Very inconvenient and cumbersome.

It lasts, take it from someone who has had one for 8 years
I bought this hose reel in 2012, so it's worked for 8 years without a problem. I've had 3 of various plastic ones over the previous 4 years and they're in a landfill, take that for a review. Sure this hose reel costs more but I haven't sent it to the landfill. It did start leaking this week, Googled the leak issue, found a repair video, ordered 12 bucks worth of parts and I'm pretty sure it will be good for another 8 years. FYI, the leak is from a replaceable part and not covered by the "lifetime warranty" but presuming the $12 bucks worth of parts fixes the issue I am a happy hose-er.Another FYI if you invest in a good hose reel, invest in a good hose. The hose reel outlasted the first hose I put on it.
