RockJam RJDPAD Double Sided Drum Practice Pad

This is a great pad, let's face it, a practice pad is a piece of rubber glued to a piece of wood. I've used pretty much all makes over the years and despite may claiming to feel 'realisitic' they are all rubber glued to wood. I got these to help teaching in a primary school, they look great and play great at about half the price of some brands. I would heartily recommend these and would buy more should I require them.

It's great. Good thick rubber surface, producing good bounce. Reasonably quiet. It's heavy, but that's good as you don't want it moving as you play. However, if you want to carry it everywhere, perhaps choose a lighter/smaller version.The bottom surface does dent, so I just use it as a non slip surface. I prefer the grey rubber surface anyway.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a fantastic sized 12” practise pad which I was very excited to try out. I haven’t heard of RockJam before so I’m curious to find out more about their products.The first thing I noticed was how heavy the pad is - it’s not really one you’d want to stick in your backpack for practise on the train/ on the move... it’s well built and the large size makes it perfect for using with a snare stand - note that there is no screw thread on the other side for stand mounting that way.The pad claims to be double sided. One side is a very thick, hard and durable grey rubber and the other is a thin black foam which I have on other practise pads but it’s purely a grippy base. I was curious to see if it was also durable enough or effective enough to be drummed on - please see my video to demonstrate the sound of both sides.The grey rubber is bouncy, the stick responds well to it and you can go as hard as you like and you know you won’t damage it.... the black thin foam however, I like that the sound is much more dampened when playing on it quietly but it’s unfortunately far too thin and when you hit hard it just clangs the wood underneath and makes a deafening wood hitting wood sound (please see my video) - also it started pitting after one use and already small cracks and holes are appearing in the foam and it’s not going to last too long with regular playing - if it was thicker it would be great to play on that side as it’s quieter than the rubber but as soon as you play hard you might as well just be hitting wood!It lost a star for the thin foam side but other than that it is a quality practise pad and I’d be interested to see more of their range.

Bought it for my 10 year old daughter who is getting into drumming. She loves it , gives a good bounce and is very happy. So I’m no rubber drum pad expert but it does what it is supposed to do, Just don’t plug it in, it’s not supposed to be plugged in.

Great practice pad at a great price.Don’t pay anymore for Big name brands,This does the job!

I already had a practice pad but it was an 8" that would jump on the snare every time i hit it, so i wanted something bigger, heavier, that would give a good rebound. I didn't want to invest £30+ on a RealFeel so this seemed a good option.
