Very informative
Having been a "bible student" for 30 years, this is very helpful to visually compare what was with what is today

An excellent bible study resource that you will reference over and over again!
This is an excellent resource for bible study and with a Catholic perspective! This atlas has many, many useful maps (over 70 in all)! Other atlases I've used have a lot more dialog of a useless nature with a lot less maps! This atlas is also of a very compact size as well, which makes it that much easier for travel to a bible study session! I highly recommend this atlas!

Excellent Atlas of the Bible.
The best atlas for those sitting in the pews. There may be something better for those in universities, but I know of nothing better for the Christian who just wants to know more about the geographical names in the Bible. I have yet to find a name in the Bible which cannot be referenced in this atlas. But then I am not a Ph.D - just a Christian who wants to know more.

Amazing atlas of biblical times!
Very good maps with detailed info about them and the time. It gives you a great feel for the time period and the geography/culture. I think it's a great companion to anyone interested in the old testament/early church. Definitely has some good historical information in it (not just biblical). It tries to go for scholarly accuracy, which I appreciate. Highly recommend for those interested in the historical and geographical side of biblical events.

You won't know where the time went when you finally are able to look up from this book and at a clock! Fascinating!
This is one of those books you pick up to browse through....and can't seem to put down. It's packed with information, charts, and colored maps that bring biblical history to life. You've heard the names of these places thousands of times. Now learn WHY you've heard them so often and, just as importantly, exactly where they are!

Thorough.
So far, looks like a useful book. Maps are on a 5x7 page. May be too small over the long hall of a 4 year Bible Study.

For bible class reference use
The atlas was recommended for study of the Old Testament. I have a National Geographic Bible Atlas, which is great, but very awkward for classroom use. The SJA provides all the information needed to understand the locations and times that we are covering in the 28 week course. The narratives that accompany the maps provide additional understanding of the Old Testament text.
