uncommon coffee
Could have been fresher, but was ok after roasting.could see it had been bagged up for awile. ship it fresh from the phillipines during season, it would be better. if it is only seasonal that way, at least it would be fresh.

great coffee experience
this was a wonderful coffee experience, first time for me. I roasted them just into second crack and let sit and cool in a dark place for a full 24 hours. The next morning as I ground the freshly roasted beans the house was filled with the smell of these coffee beans. Then the first taste.......wow a bit different, taste again many layers of flavor, strong, earthy, complex, then the wonderful finish. I love it. I would highly recommend this coffee bean. One note to sellers, you dont have to charge so much for shipping, come on.

Steer clear of this
I have been roasting my own coffee at home every week for the past 10 years, including Liberica coffee. This coffee has all the wrong flavors; musty, rancid, bitter etc, without any redeeming flavors. Note that the Liberica i had roasted years ago was extraordinarily good, with a striking natural blueberry flavor. It came from India, not form the Phillipines as this one does.

Pretty good
Definitely unlike any other coffee. I took the beans just past second crack and they turned out very well. The coffee from a french press is very earthy with some punchy acidity.

For the roast your own person
I roast my own coffee beans for a homemade Kahlua recipe I have. These beans done in a dark roast, were still flavorful and surprisingly mild. There was much less of a bitter- after taste, usually associated with dark roasting the coffee bean. The Kahlua turned out very smooth rich coffee flavor, that was perfect when added to an eggnog or just a bit of cream. As a coffee, to drink these beans bring a mild aromatic flavor with just a hint of nuttiness to the beverage.I would certainly use them again.

Impressive (for a low-altitude curiosity)
INCREDIBLY balanced, well rounded flavor with NO acidity and a nice grassiness.Using a fluid bed roaster, I started with a slightly smaller batch than normal (due to the volumetric increase during roasting), dried the beans for 2.5 minutes on low, then finished on high with fan speed reduced to just maintain fluidity. It roasted similarly to high altitude arabicas with one exception. The size increase came early during the drying process instead of near first crack. I took the roast about 20 seconds into second crack to reach a Full City Plus. I brewed in a french press after letting the beans rest 18 hours. They were VERY gassy (the brew foamed agressively as the beans degassed) and continued to be, even after 4 days of degassing!Whole roasted bean aroma - mildly nutty with strong caramel tones (surprisingly nice!)Ground bean aroma - HEAVY dried grass and leaf (not too good)Brew aroma - slightly milder grass/dry leaf (still not good)Brew flavor - incredibly well rounded, NO acidity, lightly smoky strong cut grass flavor(interesting! not off-putting, but not a daily drinker)Brew flavor w/ milk & sugar - green grass (totally lost the smokiness, curiously enjoyable)The green grassiness really mellowed out 10-15 minutes after pressing and I grew to really like this cup. This obviously cannot be compared to a high-altitude shade-grown arabica, but I can say that I found it enjoyable and could definitely see it being useful in a blend to mellow out a harsher deeper bean (maybe dry-processed or african or indonesian).I really like using this in a blend of 20% Burundi Kayanza, 40% Columbian Supremo, and 40% Liberica. The grassiness is 'just right'.

So happy i found these beans. Have always wanted to roast and try this coffee bean. It does indeed smell of pine trees when roasting and at FC+ it is sooooo good. I will def order more before it is gone!!
