LIME CRIME Velvetines Lip Color - BLACK VELVET

Ok, I don't know if this is the best lipstick ever made, but it sure is up there as a contender. I bought this black lipstick for Halloween. I exfoliated my lips, put on some lip plumper, waited for that to dry. I didn't have a black lip liner, so I used black eyeliner as my lip liner. I had watched some videos and read some reviews for this lipstick before I purchased it, and they all said to apply in light layers. So I did just that. I applied the first layer, lightly, then waited for it to dry. Then I applied another light layer, and believe me, you don't need to put on a ton of this. I did the "touch test" after it dried and none came off. I was pleasantly surprised. I went to the Halloween party. I ordered a glass of wine, took a sip, and immediately checked the glass for lipstick transfer. Amazingly, there was none. I talked, drank wine, talked some more, drank more wine. 5 hours after I had applied this lipstick, and several glasses of wine, this stuff was still going strong. In fact, one of my friends remarked "that's some black lipstick you got going on there". I had it one for two more hours until I got home, and it hadn't budged. It was starting to look a little thinner than when I had left home to go to the party, but it was still in good shape to me. I tried to just wipe it off, but it didn't work, so I just used my exfoliating gel in the shower to take it off. All I can say is that this stuff is amazing compared to other lipsticks I have tried. Based on my initial use, and success, I ordered 3 more shades to use. I hope they all work as well as this black did.

I'd never heard of Lime Crime until I started searching specifically for black lipstick that I wouldn't have to worry about fading off AND that was a true black color, not that super-dark red/brown type of shade. I have to say that even though I'm used to pricey makeup through buying M.A.C., I thought the price was a bit much for an unfamiliar brand, and I'm hoping it's going to last a long time. That said, I am pretty much satisfied with it, and I like how a little seems to go a long way. Even with me drinking a lot of water throughout, it has literally lasted me through a 8-9 hour workday. I also like that it's harder to smudge or even come off than any other lipstick, stain, or gloss I've ever had, though it does tend to wear off in the "water line" of the inner lip area, particularly on the bottom lip. I guess that's to be expected, especially if you have full lips as I do.The only thing I don't like is how dry it is. I like the matte effect, but it is exceedingly dry, perhaps particularly in the dry climate in which I live. I end up adding lipgloss on top before the day is done, just so it can stop feeling like my lips are cracking. Even so, I think I would buy this again. It depends on how long this one lasts. If it does a long time, and if they keep selling this color, I will always make sure to buy it.

Absoultly amazing..I had this product before. i bought it from the actual website https://www.limecrime.com (they have other amazing colors) last year, then lost it.. so when i found out amazon sold it i was overjoyed b/c now i dont have to pay shipping fees and i get it in 2 days (oh the joy of amazon prime)Now about the product! it's dark and fulfilling. They make your lips look and feel gorgeous. It's very long lasting I'll say you only have to apply it once or twice through out the day. Be careful when you eat greasy food b/c oil helps remove the matte lipstick so if you wound up eating you'll have to just do a touch up when your done. Also don't smack your lips when you first put it on, It takes a while to dry and if you do, It'll make it look flaky instead of smooth. Last but not lease the product make feel like it's drying out your lips BUT it's actually not. most matte lipsticks feel dry but it's very mostizing for your lips do to certain butters and creams this particular matte lipstick has. To help in that situation just apply some chapstick (Blistex preferably) on your lips BEFORE apply the product. NEVER APPLY AFTER THE MATTE LIPSTICK IS ON IT WILL REMOVE IT FROM YOUR LIPS! It make still feel a lil dry through the day but it's nothing major as the chapstick helps moisturize it better.

Amazing lipstick! First of all, it smells amazing. I can't place the smell exactly, I think it smells like cherries and vanilla but I showed it to my mom and she said vanilla cupcakes. Either way, amazing smell. The formula is watery, but not in a negative way. It doesn't drip or anything, it's just a thinner consistency that makes it easier to spread and it dries down a little slower which gives you time to correct any mistakes. It's very matte, but not drying in the slightest.As for staying power, it survived drinking through straws and eating lunch, but it didn't pass the kiss test for me and the product on the inner lips transferred (this could be a me problem though, everyone's lips are different.).Great product, but I would probably be way happier with it if it were 5$ or so cheaper. 20$ definitely comes across as steep, but as someone who loves black lipstick I decided to get it because drugstore black doesn't stay matte and other brands like colourpop have their own formula issues.

I don't have any experience with any other black liquid matte lipsticks but i love this so much. it comes out completely jet black with only one coat and when it dries you can touch it and no black transfers onto your fingers. if you wear it out, expect to keep reapplying every so often, especially if you're drinking/eating/smoking. but definitely a lot more reliable than any other lipstick that doesn't dry. i have noticed that it starts to get crumbly/flakey by the end of the night after reapplying over old coats but definitely not nearly as bad as my friends urban decay that i tried. i found the brush somewhat annoying to use because the little bristles make it hard to achieve a smooth line. i think it would work better if it was an actual thin brush like they make for some eyeliners? but i guess that's what lip liner is for. over all it was worth it for sure. sadly i lost it and i'm gonna be trying kat von d's line next because i've heard good things.

I like this lipstick, best black lipstick I've tried.Pros:.Sticks like **** to a blanket.Doesn't need regularly re-doing, though can often do with a bit of a neaten-up after a meal..Easy to apply neatly (I don't wear makeup too often and so am good at making a mess. Not yet messed up too much with this)..Doesn't smudge everywhere when eating or drinking. (Not tried kissing, my boyfriend pushes me away if I try to kiss him with lipstick on).Cons:.Makes my constantly chapped lips feel more dry, and Vaseline can help to bring it off quicker (but does fix the dry problem)..Can sometimes bleed slightly, though it doesn't bother me too much. A black eyeliner would easily fix this if it's a problem.I am not sure if I would buy again, but that is due mainly to the chapped lips thing. I am very fussy about how lipsticks feel on my lips. That's not to say that I don't love the product, just that I still have not found the perfect black lipstick for me.

I ordered this about a month ago and it's downright amazing. It barely transfers and is very easy to apply. The only downside is that it's drying. So I gotta apply lip chap before applying it. But besides that it's amazing and I love it to bits.

Amazing matte Black lipstick. tens to come off a lil after eating drinkin or kissin. other than that its a great buy

I love this lipstick! It stays put and doesn't smudge. The black is a true matte black, exactly as the photo. Well worth the money. I now only wear Lime Crime Velvetines, because they are so great.
