Best thing you can buy for cooking
This is the best thing I have ever purchased for cooking. Not only does it work flawlessly every time I use it (which is a lot), it was only $25 at the time of purchase. I was skeptical when buying because of past cheap wireless devices not connecting consistently or at all (outdoor thermometer, clocks, etc.) but this thing always connects as long as both are turned on at about th same time. Both probes are dead on as far as accuracy and the meat probe cleans relatively easily. One 12 hour cook I did the weather did not cooperate. However, the transmitter sat out in direct rain the whole time and worked flawlessly. That was about 2 months ago and I have had no issues whatsoever from water. I have had this for about 6 months now and it has held up pretty well. I have also never changed the batteries which is impressive since I have used it at least 15 times for 12+ hour cooks, you do the math. The battery compartment on the half with the probes must be opened every time you turn it on or off which has led to the latch breaking from repeated use. The gasket has also fallen out several times which is annoying. The range is pitiful but it is enough to have the smoker outside with the probes and the receiver just inside the door. But for the price, these are minor complaints. For how well it has worked (and for how long) I have given this device 5 stars. I would certainly buy from Maverick again. I just hope they don't discontinue this great little device. Might just buy a back up now. Happy Cooking!

Worth every penny
I bought this about 6-8 months ago and love it. I use it on my smokers. It has all the features you need. The alarms are great, an alarm will go off it the smoker temp swings too high or if it falls too low. The other alarm sounds when the meat is done. there is a timer and a back light. The range works well. The signal is fairly strong i can have 2 walls between me and the pit with no problems. I have not tried the full 100 feet range but 50 feet works great. The best thing about this is being able to sleep without worrying on an overnight cook. If things go wrong while your a sleep the alarm will sound. The alarms are not presets like some other models you can have it beep at any temp you select. The wires are a bit short, but they are tough (just keep them out of the dishwasher and no soaking). Setting the temp, the adjustments only go up, meaning if you pass your target temp by accident you will have to cycle back through agian. This is a pain but not a deal breaker. This thing works great. The Polder original remote thermometer works great to. Highly recommended

Ok Thermometer, Better if you can solider
I recently purchased this thermometer after not being able to find the ET-732 (newer model with improvements) in stock anywhere. I had read a number of reviews and was familiar with the limitations/complaints of the device. Specifically:1) Many users reported limited range, less than the 100ft advertised.2) The switches are a bit flimsy feeling and the sender switch is under the battery cover (for water resistance)3) The receiver does not report when it is out of range of the sender...it just shows last temperature. There are several instructions you can find online to add an antenna to either the sender, the receiver, or both...so I decided why not order one and see how it goes. After receiving the unit I gave it a test with the supplied batteries and it worked for about 35~40ft. This was the distance from my smoker to just inside the sliding glass door in my kitchen. So, I could leave it there and listen for the alarm...but I really wanted it to go further (especially since it doesn't have the out of range alarm), so I tried the receiver antenna mod (...). I found that a longer antenna length than specified in the instructions was needed and in my case and after trying a few lengths decided that 9.75" boosted signal strength so I could use it anywhere in my house. I'm sure it works at least 100ft thru walls now. I decided it wasn't worth the effort to add an antenna to the sender.I've used the modified unit for two longer smokes now and it worked great. No signal loss, alarms when the temps go out of range and when the meat is done. The switch behind the battery cover is a bit annoying...more so because one of the o-rings has a tendency to fall out if you aren't careful (and I assume this decreases the rain resistance). But with the mod the range issue (and with it the out of range alarm issue) is not a problem. If you can use a soldering iron to add an antenna and are OK with the other minor issues, this is a worthwhile tool for the weekend BBQ-er.Rating before antenna modification: 2~3 starsRating after antenna modification: 4 stars.

Maverick Wireless BBQ Thermometer ET73
This thermometer is a great value for the backyard BBQ. It allows constant monitoring of the temperature at the grill top as well as in the center of a piece of meat. It was shipped promptly and arrived in perfect condition. There are separate meat and grill probes. Both were calibrated in boiling water as well as against a lab quality instant read thermometer. The grill probe was within 2 degrees of the standard and the meat probe read 3 degrees on the high side. In use, the probes each have a wire about 3 feet long which needs to exit the cooking chamber and attach to the transmitter. This transmitter is secured outside the BBQ. The receiver can be transported up to 100 ft away from the transmitter and gives a constant readout from the two probes. The receiver can be programmed to give a signal if temperatures get too high or too low. The only things to watch for are to not allow the probes to get wet at their junction with their wire leads, and the wires must exit the BBQ without being pinched or crushed. I used the smoke vent holes. I am completely satisfied with the results, and the relatively modest price makes this a great value. One other thing, the grill probe reads to around 400 degrees before overload, so you don't use it right down on the heat source. It is most useful in a lower temperature setting.

I am using it with my smoker and it works great! Had it for 2 months now. More accurate than my smoker temp gauge. I only wish the probe cords were a bit longer but can live with that. Recommend it!

Ottime
Grandissimo, vale ogni € speso.
