Extraordinary fiction mixed with history and folclore
It is very rare to see so much love for History. The English Roman age is just a background for Robeet E. Howard interes in history, adventure and savage's freedom.

Bran
This is my 2nd copy of Bran Mak Morn. I still have my original. I bought it when I was a kid. Around 12 to 14. I'm 55 now. It still has an attached insert for one of the SciFi book clubs in it. I bought this 2nd copy thinking that I might end up making a PDF out of it so I could read it on my Kindle. It's not been 'kidleized' yet. If Amazon were to go to the Bran Mak Morn Wikipedia web site they would see the name of the current publisher/license holder. I suggest they do that. No other Robert E Howard publication has all the chapters in the same order as this book. So Amazon, Kindle this book.

Nice Presentation and a Pleasure to Read
Enjoyable, but some of the material seemed a bit like filler. Personally, I prefer Solomon Kane. Also, given the large page size, I wish the font had been a little larger.

Better than Conan
To say this is better than Conan is to say that so much of the Conan stuff was written with magazine articles in mind and then you find that a healthy portion of those just aren't that great to begin with.Bran is a different hero and the stories were written better in my opinion, at least better than a good deal of the Conan shorts. My personal favorites from the Howard reissues are the Solomon Kane stories. I enjoyed those even more.If your a Howard fan, you won't do wrong here.

Worms of the Earth and others.
All of Howard's Bran Mak Morn stories in one place, spattered with quality illustrations. Magnificent stuff.

Howard was a peerless master
Bran Mak Morn will show a different side of Howard and his interpretation of an old race. And as a story teller he is peerless. No less as amazing as his Conan, Kull or Solomon Kane creations. Kull will make an appearance in a story here.A must buy for anyone who wants great story telling, and Howard IS certainly that!

not enough to justify a separate volume
I am a big fan of REH and have most of his stuff in the shelf. Apart from this one I own three more volumes from the illustrated Del Rey collectors-series. However this one is certainly the one where the series has met it's limits. When all is said and done, there are only two Bran-Mak-Morn-stories, another that he shares with Kull (that is also included in the Kull-volume from Del Rey Books), and loads of filling material. The book is only interesting for looking good in the shelf (which it does, therefore the second star). The few Bran-Mak-Morn-stories could easily be included in another Del-Rey-Volume.
