Purchased as a gift and it was a great find!
First, I do not play the guitar. I play the piano, but my fiance' plays the guitar and has 5 different electric guitars and didn't have an acoustic guitar. When my father got out his 12 string acoustic Fender that is older than me and started playing it months ago, my fiance's eyes lit up and he enjoyed taking a turn playing it. My father's Les Paul from when he was in high school was more appealing, but that's just a bit above my affordability :)I've been out of work on disability and he has been doing all the extra work that I just can't do anymore. So, I decided to spend a little more on him for Christmas. I had researched acoustic guitars for months before choosing this guitar. I asked my father and numerous friends that play guitars for their input on what I should get. I actually found out more by researching by myself. After reading endless reviews, watching tons of videos, and weighing the different options for each model, I narrowed it down to three models:Martin X Series DX1AE Acoustic-Electric GuitarTaylor 110 100 Series Acoustic Guitar, Sapele, DreadnoughtGuild GAD Series D-125 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar NaturalI had this guitar shipped to my parent's house, since I had no place in the house to hide it and I wanted my father to try the guitar for himself to make sure I picked a good guitar. Not only do the pictures online look beautiful, they also do NOT do justice to the beauty of this instrument. This guitar arrived in flawless condition. The solid wood is just beautiful. Also, the case that the guitar comes in is VERY nice! It is molded to this guitar and has very thick, plush lining. Yes, this guitar is made in China, but it is quality mahogany and is SOLID wood. There isn't any laminate of any kind on this instrument. When I went over to my parent's to listen to my father play the guitar, I was blown away at how great it sounded. No 'tinny' sounding tones at all. Resonates beautifully and very easy to play. For my 61 year father to say that I did a really good job on picking out the guitar, when he has been playing since he was a teen, really made me feel like I picked the right guitar. Needless to say, my fiance' hasn't put the guitar down much since he opened it on Christmas. Also....my father has been looking for a 6 string acoustic and has always wanted a Gibson (of course), but, he said he is really considering getting himself a Guild now.

if you have nothing good to say
My mom always taught me: if you have nothing good to say, then don't say anything. I wish I could follow that age-old adage for this guitar, but I believe people should know. If you search, you will see that this is not the first, not the second, but is the THIRD same guitar that I purchased. Why buy three of the same brand and model???Well, the guitar came in a nice case, very well-packaged. It played well initially, but after a few months, the strings started buzzing. At first, it was the low E string, then other strings followed over time. Now the only way for me to make any decent sound on this guitar is to play the strings extremely gently, as if plucking it with a feather, and I can hear that kind of sound in the dark of the night, in an isolated, quiet room when there is absolutely no other noise. This problem happened with the first guitar, and I thought, well, it must be an anomaly. Let's give them the benefits of the doubt and try a second one. Too bad, the second guitar developed exact same problem. But that part of me who idolized Guild for so long refused to believe it, and I ordered a third one. Alas, I am now a believer alright. All three turned out bad.I noticed that these guitars were made in China, and it does make me wonder if the change in climate from China to the US may be the reason for the quick deterioration of these instruments, or if it is strictly a quality control issue.Regardless of the cause, I'm now stuck with this guitar that makes noise instead of music.

Great Guitar
The Guild GAD Series D-125 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Natural sounds great. There is a mellow clear tone produced from it. Finger picking is easy on it-easier than my Yamaha, and it can sing out when strumming. It came in a great case and is a beautiful- appearing guitar. the only set back is that the pick guard is a bit inferior--Read this in one of the reviews--so it was to be expectar ed.Will change it out eventually. Also, I have to research which strings may feel better-it's ok as is but could be better (strings-that is)Over all great guitar for the price-couldn't be more pleased!

CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS PURCHASE!
It's stunning! My husband has a $3000.00 guitar and you cannot tell the difference! In fact, I often prefer the mellow sound of my Guild guitar over his Gibson. This guitar is also beautiful to look at. Deep red color, exactly like the one pictured. I'm a "born again" guitarist and picked this up and played right away. When you consider your purchase, know your "nut size". That said, I mean to say that you need to know how wide a fret you can tolerate without strain or how narrow without hitting two strings at once. The case is very, very nice. Sturdy, well made and will last for the life of the instrument. It's a full bodied guitar but just a tiny bit smaller than my husband's which works well for a woman's anatomy. The only complaint is that low end strings were used so if you are ordering for a gift, buy a nice set of strings and have them changed out before giving the gift. Our instructor who owns far more guitars than Amazon ordered one for himself!

Great guitar
An amazing guitar. Costs more than a beginner's, but it leaves you a lot of room to grow, sounds amazing and looks beautiful.
