The new VSMA-608C-10R amplifier is the best amp you can buy. It incorporates TWO complete amplifiers in one housing. The first amplifier boosts the forward path (50-1000 MHz) by a full 3.5dB. Each output port is +3.5dB higher than the input signal. The second amplifier inside the housing boosts the Return Path (5-42Mhz), so that you experience NO INSERTION LOSS. This is very important, because cable modems are very sensitive to loss on the Return Path. More importantly, Viewsonics uses a 2-chip design for the Return Path amplifier, so that it can handle the FULL POWER of a cable modem (up to 60 dBmV) and still maintain full compatibility with all cable modem signal specs (DOCSIS). Other manufacturers use only a single chip design which only handles up to 25dBmV, which is susceptible to failure when hit with the full power of a cable modem.

Excellent Product
I had an older Monster brand splitter at my cable distribution center and picture quality was extremely poor. I tried various amplifiers on the system with no improvement. I replaced the old splitter with this one with instant improvement. There are lots of warnings in the description and on the packaging about not using this for satellite systems. They really mean the signal from the dish to the receiver. I have satellite which outputs four modulated signals back into the coax cable, I take those cables and combine them with my basic cable (which is passed through a low pass filter to remove the cable internet signal). The combined signal is provided to this unit and then fed to seven different televisions. The whole family can watch any of four satellite signals or the basic cable on any television without any problems. For the price, this is the best splitter/amplifier that you can find. The only improvement would be to have the connections on the side of the unit for flush mount, but with angled adaptors it still looks nice and functions perfect. Note that you will need to have a short length of coax to connect from the splitter to the power supply.

A must for digital DVR's.
I had to buy this signal booster when my cable company changed their signal delivery system. Now I can still use the five DVR's that I've bought over the years to record television shows and watch them later. This device was exactly what I needed. NO MORE SPLITTERS!. Just plug each DVR individually and the signal is stronger. Then, you have the booster that adds to the signal. The unit does get a bit warm, so set it on something nonflammable and give it some space for airflow around it.

Viewsonics VSMA608C-10R 8-Port TV Signal Booster/Amplifier
After trying a couple different passive splitters and having intermittent digital signal loss, I decided to invest in this unit. Mine is fully loaded with 8 connected outputs and has worked flawlessly. I really like the power adapter as it uses a coax cable to feed the power, which gives a lot more options for the install. Since this was installed in a structured media cabinet, I also bought the "Cables to go 40669 Right angle adapters" to allow for a much cleaner install.

Great Booster But HOT
Love the price I paid for this television signal booster, after the other prices I saw... the only thing is that it becomes quite warm, almost on the side of HOT... makes me a little nervous... I don't know how normal this is, but the two that I purchased are similar in temperature.... There is always someone home, but I will make sure to un-plug if the house is left alone, just as a precaution...

Did not improve my situation
Have a LCD 40 in TV in a room which ran off a splitter and kept getting pixalation and loosing some channels, I purchased the amplifier with eight outputs ports to replace the one I had with four ports to fix the problem. I expected the 8 port amplifier to fix the problem after I installed it and removed the splitter but it did not.

VSMA608C-10R works better then VSMA608C
A lighting storm blew out the breaker to one of the bedrooms which had the 12v supply for my ViewSonics VSMA608C. Short story is the VSMA608C no longer worked.The updated VSMA608C-10R was easy to install, uses an 18v transformer and allows me to put the internet cable through the unit, thus providing ground fault for internet.Everything works fine and the price is great!

High quality item that works like a charm at an amazing price. Cable company was going to charge me $60 for an amp and then another $60 for the tech to come out and "install" it. Picked this up and saved big $$$.

VSMA608C-10R - works like a charm
Was having issues with multiple cable splitters to drive cable modem and 6 TVs. Cable lengths in the house are long, and some TV/cable boxes had intermittent image quality on most channels. Removed all 3 splitters, including the cable modem splitter, and replaced with the VSMA608C-10R. Everything just works, TV signals are clear, cable modem is fast, wiring mess reduced. Some folks commented on the unit getting too hot. As a precaution, I used standoffs (small blocks of wood actually) to allow airflow behind the unit, and it's warm to the touch, but certainly not hot.
