Wish I had bought it sooner!
When I did some remodeling work I had a lot of screws to drive in. Using the regular drill head required forcing my whole body weight, or levering against something for extra force to sink a screw through lumber- My mom (she has more tools than me- and I have a lot) had an impact driver she let me use, and MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Driving 3" screws into wood was nearly effortless, compared to using the standard drill. That experience led me to purchase the Black & Decker Matrix Impact Driver attachment. I was impressed with the solid feel and long lasting power of the Matrix cordless drill when I got it, and the Impact Driver attachment simply improves upon an already great tool. I've driven in countless screws, lag bolts, hex bolts with this thing, and it performs flawlessly. I've chucked quite a few different types of screwdriver and nut driver bits into it and haven't had a problem with retention; It holds them in securely. It's been my experience that an impact driver is an invaluable tool for the task it handles. My particular use is just as a homeowner- I've owned the drill for nearly two years, and the impact driver for less than a year. I've done projects that required heavy use over several days and several recharges, and sometimes it sits for weeks. However, it has never let me down when I've used it.If you have the Matrix drill already and don't want to spend the money for a separate, dedicated impact driver- I highly recommend the impact driver attachment. You won't be disappointed!

impressed
This is stronger than I expected. Works great. Someone said the bit keeps falling out !! That's because they do not know how to use these ! Just pull up on the spring loaded locking ring drop in the bit and release. You have to use bits with the locking notch on them. Reverse to remove or change bits. Glad I found this on amazon for such a great price. $18.32. Actual black & decker brand too. Thanks

Better than expected - very nice and recommended.
I wasn't sure what to expect on this, could it really function as an Impact Driver? I was skeptical, but the price is good so I took a shot with it. Was doing framing using SPAX framing screws, so got to try this out all day. For speed, the SPAX do not need to be predrilled, which means more effort in driving them in. So, attached this attachment to the cordless Matrix base and got to work. Wow, this thing worked great - and on the first screw it almost drove the screw through the 2x4. Wow, it's working like a real impact driver. I'm completely impressed.Ok, this is not as powerful as the Dewalt dedicated Impact Drivers we use. Those are for job site work, going all day. This Matrix impact driver isn't going to replace those, it's more for the homeowner and it works great. I did use it on the job site for a few days straight, driving countless screws from sunrise to sunset. It performed flawlessly, and I'm fairly happy with the battery life too. I wouldn't pick this for heavy contractor work, but I now have one at the house for general work around home. We've used it many many times and it adds great functionality to the Matrix toolkit bag we have. Seems just about any repair or upgrade at home, I just grab the Matrix bag and it'll handle it. Way way easier than lugging up many bulky dedicated tools. Great idea having this modular set, and this impact driver is a fantastic addition.Ok, that's all positive - why the 4 stars? Power. It works great and had good power. I gave it 4 stars because it's not as powerful as many dedicated impact drivers. It's a great tool, but dedicated units typically have a little more umpf behind them. That's why the 1 star is missing. That said, I love this thing.

Nice addition to my B&D drill!
I had no idea this existed! I knew that my B&D drill had interchangeable attachments, but this small impact driver attachment has proven valuable for light-duty work on a car, on wood siding/carpentry, and other projects. For use in a car, especially, it made speedy work of disassembling quite a few things under the hood in order to prepare for a cylinder head transplant. It is also good for reattaching the wheels to the car--I can spin the lug nuts on firmly enough to hold the wheels snugly before dropping it back to the ground, where I use a torque wrench to firm up the lug nuts per the factory specs. For driving screws into wood, it works way better than the standard drill attachment, due to the impact feature helping to prevent the screw from seizing up in the wood as it turns. It was more useful than I thought it would be. Highly recommended!

Great impact driver option
This attachment is the perfect case study in why the b+d matrix system is fantastic - it's a very functional impact driver perfect for general duty driving screws into studs and metal as a homeowner, without needing as much space/expense as a separate impact driver that might only get used once a month. Plenty of torque, even with the absolutely massive screws that come with kits for stud mounting closet systems, or when driving bolts through aluminum tubing.
