Sturdy reeds
I always get these for my clarinet in a size three. They last me a good amount of time before I have to change them. The royal are my favorites in the brand as they are more for intermediate but beginners can also start on these but have to go to a lower size if they need to. I March with these and they don't break that easily as I have braces and sometimes I trip and hit the Reed onto the brace. 10/100 I would recommend to anyone who is looking for reeds for their instrument.

Good reed for a fair price
The reeds are for my daughter who is in Jr. High band. She is considered 1st chair, by the band teacher and a professional clarinetist who has a son in the band, but they don't use the "chair" designation because someone's feelings may get hurt. She likes these reeds, on par and a little better than the standard Vandoren reeds. She rated them 4-1/2 but I can only put whole stars.Update 30 Oct 2012. Now my youngest is using these reeds. The oldest decided to do chior and drama in High School. The yougest is just learning to play, so she has already gone through a box of #2 in 2 months, about a reed a week. I moved the youngest up to the Royal because of better tonal quality and when I purchase them here through Woodwinds and Brasswinds the come very quickly. I like to order them directly at WWBW because they let me choose between USPS (US mail) and UPS without charging for shipping. My son plays alto sax and he uses the Royal Sax version. Just a slight difference in cost an better sound quality, and it comes quickly. Hard to beat that!

It's quite fine.
These reeds don't get 5 stars because they may not be the most, "fancy" reeds. Otherwise they're pretty good for any Clarinet starting their playing or not. If you're starting: pull down on the reed. Do not push up and out. Pull down and out. Then preferably put the reeds in a, "quality" reed case. Otherwise carefully insert (not push) the reeds back in. Insert them just enough so that you don't struggle to pull out the reed using your fingers. You should be able to pull it / slide it out without effort. Of course, take care of your reeds and hold it with your other hand. You can replace them at least every month or so. If you want to save try at least every 3 months. If not, try using them until they no longer produce a good sound. For middle school band: strength 2.5 to 4. Preferably 3 for 6th grade and consult your band teacher for 7th and 8th. Specially if you're going to do a special style band (eg: classic, folk, jazz, etc). Never touch the tip of your reed. Don't leave them in water for too long (specially for over 2 hours). Reeds are replaceable but SAVE YOUR MONEY. Between cleaning supplies, cork grease, and such stuff: you'll want to save your money. Specially if you plan to double on another instrument. Spend your money and buy clarinet reeds not just saxophone reeds or such. Non-clarinet reeds can change your sound.

Life saver
When my reeds were all broken before my concert, these were my grab to go for emergencies. They made me sound better and felt great quality! It’s easy to use and is playability for beginners. These reeds are very functional! I used them for school, concerts, games, solos, and important events!

Nice quality
These reeds were worth the money! They work great and haven’t had any problems with them splitting like other brands do. I would definitely recommend them.

Good practice reeds
The reeds are bright, but play well, which would make them good for marching band and practice. I play in a concert band, so need something a little darker for performance. They do not last as long as some other reeds.

They get the job done!
Needed some new reeds after not playing for a while, and it probably wasn't the best idea to start with strength 3. After figuring out how I used to play, strength 3 was a bit hard for me, but after a few months of casual jazz playing I would use a stiffer reed, maybe 4 or 4.5. They do their job well though and have that nice new-reed taste, so there's not much to complain about!
