Cheap and flimsy, I doubt if it will last a year with cracking/breaking

This was a replacement for an older rain gauge which had faded over the years. Knowing this I lightly sprayed the exterior of this gauge with a clear acrylic sealer. Time will tell whether this keeps the numbers from fading but so far it is bright and easy to read from across the yard or looking out the window. Easy to empty after a rain and simple to install. I give this 2 Green Thumbs up!

I have this mounted on my deck, about 20' from the back door. Very easy to read with a glance out the door. Could be mounted even further away with no problems reading the gauge. Thus far the quality and operation of the gauge seems good. I expect it to last a number of years based on what I have seen so far. I attached a pic on the product page so you can get a vague idea on what it looks like from about 20' away.** Update on 7/18/13 **I still am happy with this rain gauge. For some reason, it appears that my photo was removed from the product page. Not sure why, but just thought I would point that out. We have had a very rainy spring here in NC and it has been handy to easily check the last 24 hours rainfall without having to go out and squint to read the numbers!** Update on 8/9/13 **Customer images now restored to product page. I replaced the one I had that was supposed to be the same rain gauge according to order saying it's the one I bought before. It's Not!, The older version was a good rain gauge with thicker plastic on the tube and a metal stand, mine finally faded so much I couldn't read the amounts anymore. This newer version is thinner plastic on the gauge tube and a cheap plastic stand that leans over with more than 3 inches on rain in it. I would not recommend.

I bought this as a replacement when I thought my first one was ruined in the hard freeze. The first one is still fine so I haven't even used the new one but I've really enjoyed the first one I bought and would definitely recommend it!

This item was very flimsy not at all like the original. This was purchased as the original after 20 or more years seemed to be leaking. My husband said no way to the new one when he saw it dabbed a little silicone on the old one and it’s as good as it was 20+ years ago!

This rain gauge does what it’s supposed to, good quality, but not what I expected for the dollars spent.

its made cheap in plastic very soft , doesn't resist wind , much , other then that it work fine but cheap
