I think this book is probably on the right track as far as helpful questions, but I have only gone through the first exam and found numerous inconsistencies and errors. For example:*On the first practice exam, two questions that appear in the Questions section do not appear in the Solutions section for that exam. Not helpful.*One of the diagrams given in the problem statement is contradicted by the numbers given along with it, as well as the numbers used in the solution. The height of the retaining wall is shown as 16 ft., listed as 12 ft. and the solution doesn't use either. Also, this particular problem uses an equation from Lindeburg, yet disregards one of the terms without explanation. Again, not helpful.This may sound like a whiny review, but these problems are very straight-forward; there really isn't room for user error. I will not be purchasing anymore resources from this author/publisher.

Good book. This one stood out because of the broad range of morning exam questions it contained. With less than four months of on-and-off studying time available to me from application approval to exam day, I didn't have time for elaborate studying. So I only wanted a representative morning problems set through which I could work and gradually reacquaint myself with those general concepts. Along with Goswami's set of two-morning-exams, this book helped with that. I tabbed this and even used it for some similar problems on the morning exam. Some solutions may seem needlessly lengthy but if you have ever taught, you would understand that the author did this to help even the weakest students see how each step was arrived at. In essence, a convoluted path to the answer - while time consuming - can help break down a difficult, monolithic problem into tiny little concepts some of which the reader may then selectively skip over if s/he already knows them. A hopefully comparable analogy is the rationale behind using longest path of flow for determining time of concentration in water resources engineering ;-).PROs: (1) Very detailed solutions; (2) contains actual pictures of project sites and situations, equipment, tools, etc; and (3) itemized list of all questions according to subject areas and page locations (this helped on the test).CONs: (1) No SI unit problems; (2) no answer key; (3) a few typos that do not detract from the overall quality. I did pass the exam on my first try but can hardly pat myself on the back because I had also spent ample time teaching most of the material in my afternoon exam section.

I do not recommend this book. I've found major errors in the book. Problems have solution errors and some problems are given the wrong solutions to them. Some of the problems to be solved do not match the concepts the solution portion of this book provides.

Ridiculous. The solutions to the practice problems stop matching in Exam 1 starting at problem #15. The formatting for the solutions is poor as well, the author couldn't be bothered to use a multiplication sign and uses a period instead. Absolute waste of money.

Great book. Some of the problems from the PE were almost the same. Totally worth the cash. The only thing I didn't care for was some of the answers didn't show the quickest way to solve them. There are a lot easier ways to solve most of the problems than shown in the solutions.

Test material looks good i started working on test 1 and noticed the answers for 1.15 &1.16 were for the wrong problems in my book.

This book has many errors. I have tried to have contact thru the website in the book with no luck. Why would I want a book to "study" with where the answers are wrong. Very disappointed!!!!And why is he allowed to give himself 5 stars for a comment on a new book.
