Straightforward and helpful
This a great biblical counseling resource with helpful appendices. This could also be handed out to parents to be read and discussed. A great resource for any pastor or biblical counselor.

Excellent Internationally Known Speakers/Authors
Having never had kids, this book was very informative and assisted me in biblical counseling of a six yo at our church. I highly respect Dr. Stuart Scott & have bought several of his books: Killing Sin Habits, Exemplary Husband. I know Martha Peace is well respected too but I haven't heard her speak. Her book "The Excellent Wife" is an excellent useful too.

Top Shelf book
Point: You will not merely "fall into" being a godly parent. It is a work of God in both the parent and child.Path: Peace and Scott do a terrific job of providing 1) a biblical basis for what it means to be a godly parent and godly child; 2) a step by step look at different difficulties at various ages; and 3) counsel and guidance for those who feel as though they have failed.Sources: Thoroughly grounded in the Gospel and the whole counsel of GodAgreement: I would put this on the Top Shelf of parenting books. We have been working through various books from this genre and have found this one to be one of the best. It has:Good overviewsHelpful age specific struggles and counselGood steps, verses, and chartsHelpful AppendicesGood 30 day devotional for those who have wayward children (or anyone who is struggling in their life!)Great questions for review at the end of each chapter - perfect for parents to ask each other. There is not a push to see conversion early in the life of a child, but there is a push to teach the Gospel from the very beginning. They also provide a helpful outline to help the parent do that.Personal App: What is my purpose as a parent but to glorify God in all things and seek to point my child to Him?Favorite Quote: "We can, with God's enabling grace and for his glory, faithfully honor God as we parent, even through the teen years" (14).It would be worth another read and I would recommend it.

Practical and Biblical
What I like the most is how practical a Biblical approach can be. The book doesn't simply quote a bunch of statistics on children, but spends more time mapping out practical and usable principles that work in the raising of children. It requires Christian parents to embrace the worldview that is an integral part of their faith. If you are looking for a "10 easy steps" book you have come to the wrong place, but if you are a committed Christian parent desiring Biblical guidance this would be a great place to start. The first step you as the parent must decide before reading this book is if you simply want a quick fix to make your parenting life easier (which will ultimately fail), or if you desire to guide your child's heart through slow, consistent, and Biblical direction.I am highly recommending this book to parents and even potential parents![...]

Great Biblical Resource for Parents
Scott and Peace do a wonderful job of showing the biblical principles of parenting. The job of a parent is to be faithful to parent as God directs us to. Nothing more or less. Particularly helpful is the help given with concern to different age groups. There is much help and hope with this resource. Easy to read. Very useful. You will want to keep it close.Three word description:SimpleBiblicalPractical

Best book on biblical parenting I've found
Best book on biblical parenting I've found. I use with my wife to think about our parenting as well as for discipling other young fathers.
