Great for the price
Was going to be too fast for my kids power wheels as I was replacing just 1 out of 4 it uses (4wd) the gear ratio was nearly identical to old gearbox but motors and motor pinions were different so I had to press the pinion off and install on old motor. Otherwise is good quality for under $20 and the problem gear (one that broke on my old gearbox) is indeed metals

I was told this isn't water proof?
The media could not be loaded. As long as the motor is out of the water. I believe this should work. My son and I are building an electric Schwimmwagen replica. Bought a 3rd motor and gearbox. Adding a propeller on it and will be adding a switch to activate it when in water.I will add silicon near the motor axle just below the metal gear. Just for extra measures. Contemplating if I should seal the gearbox as well but as long as I maintain the grease; the gearbox should be okay submerged in water. i will test this and update.edit: added new photos after water proofing gearbox. some water gets inside but as long as it doesnt get to the motor, should be ok for what we will use it for.

So far so good
So far so good. Purchased this gear box to replace in a monster jam grave digger quad ride on. Wasn’t sure exactly how it would fit but the specs seemed really close. Its close to a perfect fit so it will work for that particular kids vehicle. I did clean out the grease inside the gear box and replaced it with lithium grease. The motors are rated at 15000 rpm and the pinion gear has 10 teeth though Im not sure what the pitch is. There are no wires attached so I had to solder some on. Once installed it was kid tested. Performance was better than I expected. It held up to over a almost continuous hour of uphill, grassy, uneven terrain with no over heating or any problems that I could see. As a point I did have it hooked up to 18 volts which makes it quite zippy but more prone to failure. I really didnt expect the motors to last more than a few minutes so I was pleasently surprised. I’ll update if and when the performance fails.UPDATE: almost a year and still working. 18v no issues.UPDATE: Just under 2 years and they gave out. Still 18v but the kid got heavier.

Decent replacement.
I bought these to replace the 390 motor/gears on a ride on vehicle (Power Wheels). They fit well on the car, just a little bigger then stock but there was room. They definitely run faster and stronger then the stock 390 12k rotations motors, like 2mph faster and no hesitation in the grass. I mainly bought them for the gear box to upgrade to the Traxxas 550s. I did have to shoehorn them into the housing but they fit with a little influence and oil. The Traxxas 550s are like 0.5mm bigger. I cant seem to find the right size pinion to fit with the gear box though. It appears to be 10t 8mm diameter. Both the 10t 32p and 10t 0.8 mod are too big. I might have to buy a different gear box.

Mine came broke and caused the other to break also I ordered 2.
Okay I bought 2 of these one of them came broke you can see clearly when unwrapping it that it had a crack where it connects to the tire. I figured hey maybe they sent me this because it will still work? Nope it cracked the whole inside 3big gear. And then because all the pieces jammed the motor fried and piece started falling out of both areas. That one messing up cause the car to stop and forced the other new motor to work harder and fried that one. But the gear box stayed good. Will try and go three replacements and give and update later.
