Creepy-Scary-Goodness. A masterpiece.
One thing I've noticed from reviewers are comments about being able to finish the game in 8, 10, 12 hours. They must be sprinting! This game is so creepy-scary-good, I find myself tip-toeing 3 steps and then stop. Listen. Look around. Check that dark corner with the flashlight! Okay, now 3 more steps. Wait! Did you hear that? Super scary! I'm 51 years old by the way, so this ain't some 9 year old talking at ya. This game has atmosphere for days! I'm playing on a high end PC with a 24-inch, 1920x1200 resolution monitor and great speakers. The graphics are so good I wish I could hit a "print" button and make posters! I'm an artist by profession, so it's a joy when I see something this impressive. Really fantastic in every sense. High level of graphic detail. Atmospheric lighting -- and if it's too dark I use my flashlight. You never feel like you're walking through some squares or rectangles that have textures pasted on the sides. There is a lot of depth. This is a living and breathing space station/city. There are moments when I felt I could explore forever. It's huge! I'd love to see the developers use everything they've already made and turn it into a movie. Just like the cut scenes that you see -- glue together 100 cut scenes and you've got a movie! I'd buy the DVD. But I digress... The sounds are what will stop you in your tracks. Creepy. As far as game-play, there are some really nice features. For those of us that might get lost, you can hit the "b" key and the game will drawn a quick line on the floor showing you which way to go. Very helpful. The zero gravity areas are amazing! You get to fly around like Superman. It can be disorienting. Hit the "z" key and you are spun around so that your head is up and your feet are down. Again, very helpful at times. The flashlight that I've mentioned, it automatically turns on when you aim at anything with any weapon. Very nice. You never have to remember to turn it on, it turns on by itself. Basically I think the developers hit a nice balance of complexity and ease-of-use that should satisfy hard-core PC gamers and newbies alike. The Goldilocks game -- not too hard, not too easy. Of course that is assuming Goldilocks is trying to tear your head off with her razor-sharp talons! Muwahahahaha!!!! They also did a great job of eliminating all the info that is usually cluttering up the screen: health, ammo, oxygen, etc. All the info you need is on the suit of your character, or on the weapon he is holding. Very clean and efficient. There are 4 different space/armor suits you can acquire throughout the game. My favorite by far is the Vintage Suit. It looks cooler than any space suit I've ever seen in any movie. You can feel the weight of it. So many great details. Lastly, there are a couple of other non-player characters that you encounter which make the game much more interesting. Rather than a game like Doom where you are all alone with a bunch of monsters, here you get a sense that you aren't the only surviving human. Nice to encounter someone that's not vomiting acid at you. Seriously, this game is a masterpiece. And if you compare the cost of this game($12 as I write), to a movie ticket, this game is an incredible bargain. A movie lasts 2 hours and it's a passive experience. You can play Dead Space 2 for DAYS and believe me, it's not a passive experience. Okay enough talking, I'm gonna take just a few more steps... wait... did you hear that?

It's not easy to install as GOG games.
I purchased dead space 1 from gog and downloaded it's installation files directly to my PC and installed it without having an electronic arts or a version accounts, this is a discontinued game from 2010, and since this a physical copy of the game you have to install the above mentioned applications in order for you to play the game using the activation code located on the back of the installation guide catalog provided with the DVD copy of the game, ( there is a barcode and a 5 or 6 digits code proof of purchase in case you want to contact electronic arts customer service directly to have them provide you with an alternative activation code).

Dead Space 2
Ever since falling completely in love with the original DEAD SPACE, a game that I place on my top-five favorite video games of all time, I had waited patiently for a sequel and suffice to say that wait is over. DEAD SPACE 2 has not only reached my highest expectations but it has also gone above and beyond to exceed them.Graphically speaking, the original game was beautiful, ambient, haunting and terrifying. I often found myself gawking and being in complete awe of the environments both inside and outside(which I still do to this day). The original game was and still is one of the most perfect cinematic experiences or 'Games' if you must, that I have ever had the luxury of part taking in.DEAD SPACE 2 is even better! the graphics are just gorgeous, crisp and full of eye candy at every turn, nook and cranny. The musical score and sound effects are top notch and every heart-rate-inducing sound can be heard crystal clear. The characters and the storyline are wonderful and never once did I feel confused by or uninterested in them. The controls are some of the best I've ever played and the game is simply put, the most exhilirating, emotionally intense and truly fun gaming experience I've had personally.Rather you're hacking consoles, propelling yourself through zero-g gravity, blasting the limbs off of the Necromorphs and using those limbs as weapons, or even just plain running for your life, this game never lets up and it feels great. Some have complained that the campaign is too short, this simply isn't true.I can remember reaching one of the later chapters and thinking to myself, 'this has been amazing, can there really be four or five more chapters?' I felt spoiled like a kid at Christmas. The length of the campaign in my opinion, is perfect and that is to say, not too long and not too short, the pacing is perfect as well.I think some may be mistaking 'short campaign' with whats really going on which is that DEAD SPACE 2 is the perfect length if there has ever been one in a game, and it in fact makes you desire more. However, this is NOT because the developers made a short-campaign but because both DEAD SPACE and DEAD SPACE 2 are such incredible experiences, that enough is never enough. So in my opinion, if a game can scare the hell out of me and pull on my heart strings the way that this one has, desiring more is definitely NOT a bad thing. I found myself just astounded by the amount of incredible and epic things that happened just in the first chapter alone. The Multiplayer is brilliant as well, I've had so much fun attacking humans with other Necros, or watching my team mate's backs while being swarmed by some of the newest additions to the Necromorphs such as 'The Puker' and 'The Pack'. This game is loaded with so much new and cool stuff that I wouldn't know where to begin in describing it all! There hasn't been a video game this good since the original DEAD SPACE and there won't be another until DEAD SPACE 3. If you have yet to play either of these games, don't waste another minute.DEAD SPACE 2 IS THE VERY BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED!

Fun and immersive game but EA is annoying as usual
I just finished the game after 8 hours and 15 minutes of game play on Normal mode. I am pretty good at FPS games so a full 8 hours of content was really nice.Overall the story is very immersive and enjoyable, the addition of voice content from Issac + Nicole really fleshes out the entire plot and makes the story (in my opinion) BETTER than the original Dead Space plot. The final scene of the game made me spontaneously clap when the credits rolled, and I'm now waiting for DS3.5/5 StoryGraphics are a step (maybe two) better than Dead Space and contain all the blood and gore that your heart would desire (Your Mom really WOULD hate this game) The Issac death scenes I got myself into were very graphic and brutal.5/5 GraphicsGame play is just as good as Dead Space. Strategies for killing the Necromorphs are far and wide, and the "fight back" scenes (when you get into hand to claw? combat) are very awesome and have you cheering for Issac to smash that Necros head in! Well, that is the PG version of what I was saying (lol)5/5 Game playNew Content was included, such as new guns and a few different types Necromorphs to kill. I feel that Visceral Games didn't put a big enough emphasis on the new Guns you could acquire, and I literally ACCIDENTALLY bought a new gun type from the store about mid way through the game and LOVED it. Make sure to buy the newer guns because they are very awesome. The suits are MEH at best but the Advanced Suit does look pretty epic. There are also flight scenes that are very fun but can get frustrating on the 4th-5th death.4/5 New ContentEA of course wants to squeeze every penny out of this title so you are constantly nagged by EA wanting you to join their Online Servers to unlock more content. You can turn these messages off however. And the activation scheme that EA uses really is annoying. You have to connect online to verify that your copy of Dead Space 2 is legal. Good news is if you uninstall the game you get 1 of your FIVE activations refunded. Connecting to a third party server to check if your game is legit is very shady. Supposedly this also uninstalls the typical EA root kit that they throw in for FREE! They are also charging 59.99 retail for the PC game! This is unheard of in the PC gaming world seeing as how resale opportunity for PC games is so limited.2/5 Activation/Online Content Requirements/EA ShenanigansOverall the game was very enjoyable and was worth every penny. I don't think I will ever buy any DLC for the game but it does have some replay value for sure. I really hope to see more games based around Issac soon.

Good Single player, but...
Well, first of all I have to say I'm not going to talk about the root-kits that the game installs on your computer, or the other crap EA does with its games... I understand that they want to protect their games but it is nonetheless incredibly annoying. Instead, I would rather talk about the actual game play. The single player story is very well done. The eerie sounds and graphic scenes are well thought out and they really try to keep you on your toes (There are times when you essentially explore and there are no creatures around, making you feel relaxed until you are viciously attacked by a large group of necromorphs). It is hard for developers to make good sequels since either they move too far away from the original and it ruins it for players that love the first game, or it is a remake of the same game and people get bored with it. However, this seems to be a fairly good mix of new elements along with familiar elements such as the weapons and usable items (There also was a nice mix of new creatures to kill, which I think is something every sequel could expand on). I have to say I was generally excited that they were going to implement a multiplayer mode into this game, but I really disliked it after a few matches. First of all, what annoys me the most is the inability to mute players when you are in an actual match. You can mute them in the lobby, but if you join a game that is already started, you can't. It really wouldn't be hard to implement a mute icon next to each person's name... and the game seems to drop players frequently. I had thought it was just me, but looking on different threads, players from all different types of consoles seem to complain about getting dropped from multiplayer games. You get points after each match which levels you up, granting you access to different costumes, abilities, and weapons, but if you get dropped at the end of a match, you do not get any points. So you end up staying at a low level while higher level players kill you over and over and over again... quickly loses its fun. Really the only interesting aspect is the ability to play as both humans and necromorphs, but it seems like a cheesy ripoff of Left 4 Dead. But, since I bought this game for the campaign element, I cannot say I am displeased with this at all. If you are one of those types of people who will get this only for online play, I suggest renting it for some sort of console first before you decide to purchase it especially with the limited activations for the PC version.
