Mijello Airtight Watercolor 18-Well Fuchsia Palette

I didn't leak for me.

There’s a little beading in the mixing area if you only have a little paint, but I didn’t find it an issue and with more paint it doesn’t happen.I think these palettes are great. I now have three for different purposes, two colours

This is my third Mijello 18-well watercolour palette. What could I say more? Just excellent quality: absolutely leakproof, convenient, not bulky, light. Recommend 👍🏻

I ordered ‘fuschia’ which was a purple colour in illustration, but when it came was a brick red. Otherwise good product.

It does for me exactly what I want it to do.

From other reviews it's clear that this palette is not fuchsia but pink. It even stated "Pink" on the box. Very misleading as what you get is a pink instead of the purple that's being advertised.

I own several plastic and metal watercolor travel palettes and this is definitely my favorite out of them all. Here is a list of pros and cons for this palette:Pros:. Affordable! It's one of the more affordable travel watercolor palettes I've seen on Amazon.. Generous amount of mixing space.There is a removable clear insert on the lid that is very easy to clean, you can also take this out and use the surface underneath if you need more space for mixing.. Lightweight but durable. I wouldn't want to drop it on the ground to test it, but I've carried it around in my bag and don't have to worry about it breaking or the hinge getting loose.. Leak proof... I think? There is a rubber gasket around the upper lid piece that i assume keeps it sealed while closed.. It's cute! I don't care much for what something looks like as long as it functions. That said, I appreciate the color and minimalist design of this palette.Cons:. It is quite large for travel.. The wells are fixed, so I once you put paint into it it's a hassle to move the colors around, unlike in palettes that use removable pans.. The plastic stains (but so do most other plastic and metal palettes). It doesn't bother me at all but I thought I would mention it.. Paint beads/pools up. Although it gets slightly better over time, it takes time to break in the surface to reduce the beading.Note: this could be a pro or con depending on the way you look at it. Because this palette is quite big you have a lot of space for mixing (two wells, plus the lid). However the trade-off is that the palette could be considered too large for travel, depending on your needs. I would not really recommend it for urban sketching, but if you plan to carry it in a large purse, backpack, or even luggage or duffel bag this would be a good option.If you're looking for a lightweight palette with plenty of mixing space, but don't care too much about the size, you should definitely go with his palette.

I read a lot of reviews and some people say the glass portion is useless. I brushed (w/ toothpaste and baking soda) the clear plastic piece and the inside of the box so that the paint doesn't bead up. And it works! Now I have 2 giant, 2 medium, and several small mixing wells! I don't really care if the plastic part gets scratched up as long so I can see the colours on it! And if I want I can switch it up to use the other well.I was wondering if it was really "leak-proof", so I gave it a test. I swished the closed box containing water several times, and let it stand with water for several minutes. It's not really leak-proof as a few drops of water came out. The clasp that closes the box can easily pop open if in a bag. It's not a big deal to me since I would put all the paints I have in a separate bag out of habit. I just like to test the things I bought.The box is big, but it's very light so I don't mind carrying it around. I also have a tin Meeden box that is pretty big, but it can be heavy to carry. I'm excited to use this box since it fulfilled my criteria (most affordable quality plastic box, light in weight, enough mixing wells, thin enough to carry with a book, easy to open and display for use).
