Well, it spins well.
The Tornado 2 Spins real well, and that's about all it does.I had an ordinary Duncan yo-yo as a kid, and I don't recall having any trouble using it. I expected the Tornado 2 to perform at least as well. I am sorry to report that it does not.I have learned here on Amazon that a ball-bearing yo-yo is essentially the Lamborghini of yo-yos, while a simple five decades-old Duncan is supposed to be a beat-up 1949 Chevy sedan. One thing about Lamborghinis: Though they are expensive, high-performance machines, one could back it out of the driveway and head to the grocery store for a loaf of bread and some milk. The Tornado 2 should be able to go down and up again without a bunch of fuss. This is not the case. I goes down, and it stays there and spins all day long. After about twenty minutes of struggling I put it back in the box. It's probably still in there spinning. Some reviewers have mentioned the need to practice for days, or even weeks, to use a ball-bearing yo-yo. Forget that. If you want a yo-yo that does what a yo-yo is designed to do, then forget ball bearings and select an ordinary yo-yo. If you're looking for high-speed spinning, super tricky moves, and a lifetime of practice, then go with this or one similar.

Kinda crap
I got the yoyo and it was fine at first. But after about a week of playing with it, it's no longer responding well at all. I can toss it down for a sleeper then pull the string hard enough to bring it all the way back to my hand without it binding. It just falls back down and never actually grabs the string. It's a kinda trash middle ground between responsive (only when it wants to be) and unresponsive (but with a poor shape and sleep time for string tricks).I'll be getting some cleaner and oil in the mail soon so see if the bearing is somehow the issue, but I doubt it. I've tried three different string blends, bout new and broken in and the same problem so chances are it's the yoyo itself.

Save your money and buy a yo-yo from the next range up.
Perhaps my nostalgia filter is worse than I thought, but this thing isn't worth 12 cents, let alone 12 dollars. It would not sleep consistently or for any consistent period of time when it did sleep, even after the addition of lead graphite(a dry chemical lubricant often used in these types of applications). I threw this product in the trash. Quite upset. I will spend the money for a higher quality product next time. I do still love the feel and design except of course it didn't work. Rim weighted yo-yo's almost always perform tricks better. Except this piece would have lost to a crudely hand-carved solid axle wooden yo-yo of a thousand years ago.

Cheaply Made Yo-Yo
Cheaply made. My son was looking forward to using this yo-yo, especially given the high star rating. The plastic is okay, but the paper on the side is worn and the string is horrible. We’d choose differently had we known.

Professional
I bought this yoyo as a gift but I love the appearance and am sure the receiver will love it too.
