Excellent, but emptying the flask can be tricky.
This is a great palette. It fits in my pocket, I'll be able to store the Whiskey Painter's brush inside once it arrives, and if I decided to I can add a couple more palettes. The capacity of the flask is HUGE. Somewhere around 30ml of water according to my measurements, which is incredible. Enamel is hydrophobic, but that's par for the course with metal enamels. Little hit with some 600 grit sandpaper and it fixed that issue lickity split. My only issue is with the flask portion. The throat is a bit narrow. It does a great job of preventing spills, but it makes it difficult to get the water you put in back out when you need it. I eventually figured out that I have to just slightly touch the mouth of the flask to break the surface tension on the water and let air back in so that it empties. Not anything annoying, but it did take some experimenting.Aside from that this is an amazing little palette. Having this palette will expand my abilities in painting, and hopefully help me get better since I can take it out on the go. I can't wait to get some paint in it and take it outside to start learning how to actually use it.

I Really Wanted to Like It...
It's a great idea - a flask palette! I really wanted to love it, but found it's not for me. It's heavier than my Jane Davenport palette box and that box is a little bigger. I also did not fill it with water yet and found it to be heavy. It's sturdy, no doubt but I didn't like the extra weight and it's heavier when you put water in it. The part that holds the water, the water doesn't flow out into the lid. You have to shake it a few times to get the water out and in the meantime, you could be making quite a mess with water being shaken out all over the place. It is a well made palette but I also didn't like the immovable, metal grooves that held the pans in. Those being there made it difficult to fit another row of half pans in the middle and that the middle row would stick up, not really fitting well into the pan.As much as I love the story of the "Whiskey Painter" and wanted to try some whisky paintings myself with this palette - it didn't really work for me as it was very heavy and not really as customizable as I thought.

The best you can get for now.
The Winsor & Newton Bijou Box is no longer available and unless you have a relative to inherit one from the chances of getting your hands on one now are slim, fat and none. So I turned to the Whiskey Painter's of America for this delightful and well designed travel palette. While it does come with 8 empty half pans, you can fit 12 in if you use the central area. I used 12 Schmincke half pans that fit just fine. If you can get by with eight, you can might cut down a brush to fit but it is too small to hold a DaVinci travel brush.Schminke makes a similar palette already loaded and I was tempted but read a few reviews on the quality so I decided to get this and choose my own colors. I'm glad I did but this has quality issues too. There are some paint issues with the black enamel. The top has a spot that looks like a fingerprint, there are a few spots that look like what you get when you use too much spray paint or spray over wet paint. There is also a spot of enamel missing inside the water cup and a small spot of black on the flask cap, like the top was put on too soon. So either this is a "second" or Whiskey Painters of America has the same quality control issues from their supplier that Schmincke has.I am also disappointed that the flask portion isn't brass, only the cap and nipple. The interior looks like it is steel like the rest of the case. With care it should be fine. I just hope it's stainless and will not rust over time. But as it is steel, I can attach it to my magnetic whiteboard with magnets which is a plus for me.In the end I like this fine. It will do exactly what I wanted it to do, it's small and I like that it will contain my water as well. I'm looking forward to taking it out in the field. But I will still keep my eye open for a Winsor & Newton Bijou Box.

Broke immediately and no customer service
Mine fell apart before I even had a chance to use it or fill it with paint. Zero customer service after Amazon’s 30 day return window. I’m stuck with an expensive and useless thing.

yes and no
for the price I was specting better quality, the paint chips really easy where the box and the lid meets and in the base of the box, the paintwork is not that good, it got some small bubbles that popped in to small holes in the paint, it is convenient if you are outside of your home a lot tho

Small, but amazing !
I love this flask palette ! Its such a charming design, and I adore compact palettes! It's not too heavy, but its weighted enough to show that it is well made with quality materials. With water added its about the same weight of my phone (with a case) and its a little over half the size in length. Take note that I have added 4 more half pans in the middle so it can fit 12 colors. The half pans were a separate purchase. The paints I put in are Holbein (and one Sennellier paynes grey )Some things I disliked:I disliked the way the mixing area is at a slant. It can cause the colors to run into each other. I'll see if I can find a way to tighten it so it'll sit at a proper angle for painting (which would be flat for myself) so I'll see if that's something I can do myself. Also, theres only 2 wells to mix in. Its a small palette, so the mixing area will be just as small. I have heard that there was a similar palette made with 4 mixing wells, and I would REALLY love to see that !Other than that, I really like this palette. I'm excited to own it and will be taking it everywhere I can !
