Quality and features galore
We have 2 split king beds; the one we bought first is this one, the Softide Ergomotion 8300. It is deluxe in just about every way. (We did not buy the Softide on Amazon, but we have this exact model and did purchase a second split king adjustable bed base of a different model through Amazon.)Pros: this bed base is deluxe, as it should be for the price. The materials used are very good and craftsmanship is great. It is in no way flimsy - definitely top of the line. The upper-body tilt is a really nice feature that I really didn’t think about or appreciate until I tried it. It makes reading or using a tablet in bed more comfortable. The underbed lighting is nice. The remote has a LOT of features (and buttons). The bed features the massage function, which some people may appreciate. Also, this is a true wall-hugger. As you tilt the head up, your body scoots back so that you can still reasonably reach the night stand. This is a great feature, and not one that you get on a cheaper model.Cons: First and foremost is the price. This bed is four times the price of the second and much cheaper brand that we purchased for our other second split king bed. I almost took a star off for this, but this is a product review, not a price review. I really don’t care for the massage function, and because the remote has so many buttons, your partner (mine anyway) can easily hit the massage function in the middle of the night trying to adjust their side of the split king, which in turn shakes my side of the bed and wakes me up (I’m not sure if you can disable the massage function or not). The design of the remote could be better (its hard to tell in the middle of the night the top/bottom/front/back - it only lights up after you hit a button, which somehow seems to be the massage button a lot of the time) to help avoid this. Conclusion: I really do love this bed base because of the quality, upper body tilt and underbed lighting, but because I’m not a zillionaire I probable would have been just as happy saving money by purchasing the split king adjustable bed base that was less expensive. Simpler remote, no massage, and $1800 back in my pocket. To be fair, we bought the second split king adjustable base on Prime day, so we go a whale of a deal on the cheaper model. If you’re not concerned with the price, you won’t go wrong buying the Softide Ergomotion. After you have an adjustable bed, you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.
