Excellent for round banisters
Solved our banister issue ! Works well with most tension gates that are metal like the summer infant one

Missing spindle. Twice now.
I’m just really frustrated. This is the second time we’ve ordered a spindle and it was missing from the box. The packaging looks opened and it’s not in there. This being the second time I’ve ordered it, my son REALLY wants to climb those stairs. I have the gate, I’ve just been waiting for the spindle to put the gate up. I ordered it with something else in the order and right now it doesn’t look returnable. Ugh. Frustrating and disappointing. Has never happened with another product.

A great solution for a wrought iron gate problem
Others on here have discussed how well this works, so I think I will provide a little detail of our exact experience. We originally purchased a well reviewed, non-pressure mounted baby gate for our stairs. However, I realized the assembly was far too complicated, so instead we purchased an additional KidCo G15. We already had two and were extremely happy with their simplicity and quality. One side of our staircase is a wall, so it presented no problems. The other is a wrought iron gate, so it presented plenty of problems. At first, I only ordered one Y Spindle, then realized when I received it that you actually need two, one for the top (as you see in the picture of the Y Spindle) and the other for the bottom (not pictured). We got our second one and installed it and couldn't be happier. It is SO easy and SO simple compared to the other remedies I found that I highly recommend it to anyone dealing with a similar problem.

Didn't work for our wrought iron gate problem
This was an ideal solution except the distance between the wrought iron rail (where the spindle was going) and the gate was too big, which caused the gate to be extremely unstable as it was literally extended to its last thread. This is because the bottom tension rod on the gate was against the base board, and the top was against the rail (2 inch difference). A larger gate was not an option, as the one we had was the largest that fit. I returned and opted for the Kidco gate installation kit which included a piece of wood that we zip-tied onto the railing, allowing for the top tension rod to fit securely against the railing. Problem solved!

Very tricky to install. Took us over an hour to get it adjusted.
Very sturdy but it’s not easy to open.

Can't believe I didn't know about this thing
I just happened upon this listing one day, I don't even know how. It has truly changed my life, simply because it's so convenient and USEFUL. Before, we had the flat thingy pressed against our round newel post. I would knock it off every time I bumped into it or hit it in any horizontal way, for the last YEAR. It wasn't a huge deal until I noticed that the paint on the wall on the other side was starting to chip from the pressure. Just about that time, I found this thingy. Yep. TOTALLY changed things. The Y shape is rather large, so it not only fits on a thin post like in the picture. Our post is about 3" diameter and I know the Y would fit over a larger post as well. Probably up to about 4"?

Fits several kinds of gates! Amazing!!!
This product is amazing. I had purchased the Dreambaby version of this first but had to return it bc they weren't long enough once installed in the gate to be tight enough since our wrought iron spindle is several inches over from the edge of the stairs, if that makes sense. This fits on the dreambaby gates (though they would never tell you that), plus is several inches longer, making it much more sturdy, plus you can order it in a pack of 1 instead of 2 which is less expensive and always good! I also have a munchkin gate that it fits on just fyi. Also, the "grip" on this is much better than the dreambaby version. It is overall a much more substantial version of the dreambaby one.

Works with Regalo gate
Works perfectly. Bought a Regalo gate for the bottom of the stairwell ("Regalo Easy Open 50 Inch Wide Baby Gate, Bonus Kit, Includes 6-Inch and 12-Inch Extension Kit, With Both Pressure and Wall Mount Kits"). In order to fit the Kidco Y spindle, we did have to remove the plastic piece from the Regalo gate using pliers (very easy to do). After that, the fit was perfect. The whole setup is very sturdy and stands up to our 13-month-old's pushing/pulling. Overall, very pleased.
