Lots of noise and fun
Lots of fun with this. We got the set with two cars and the kids set it up by themselves. We were expecting scalextrix type fun but got something much more energetic and interactive. This is a fun toy - everything that childhood should be.

fiddly fun, for a while.
There are loads of different car track sets out there, so it's always interesting when a new novelty appears on the market. This set has that novelty factor as instead of pressing a button to get your cars whizzing around the track, you instead wave your hands frantically over them and after a few seconds they whizz off.The track has some wobble to it but is sturdy enough for the task, is wasn't the easiest thing to put together though. The instructions weren't great and I ended up using the image on the box as my main guide. Once put together this takes up a significant amount of floor space (my son only has a smallish room, his older sisters bagged the larger ones), but eventually we got there. The cars just needed batteries and a tiny screw driver to fit them in, and then it was time to race...After some waving and waggling, the cars shot off at speed, my son and I were both really impressed with the speed. Honestly, the cars are a blur as they go around the loops and we enjoyed watching the cars on the track. It didn't feel as though we were actually racing though as the cars are very fast you couldn't really notice which was ahead of the other during the franticness of the "race"!I left my son to it an dafter I while I checked up on him, after a few times watching the cars whizz round he lost interest and I think that's the issue with this. If you had more tracks then perhaps the fun would be from constructing tracks and seeing the cars on them, but this set alone doesn't have any long-term play value. The novelty is great to start with ,the cars are *really* fast, but once you've seen that a few times it just got a bit boring.I couldn't bring myself to fully disassemble the track as it took so long to put together, so I kept the 2 loops intact, but the truth is there was never really much enthusiasm to get it back out and play again. In a nutshell: A unique concept, impressive, and fun for a few minutes but the fun soon wears off. I also had the "Super Mario Kart 8 Infinity Loop Track Set" around the same time, and this was much better than that. The Mario Kart set was awful to put together and too weak to support itself. At least this set works once it's set up.

A novel racing set.
Wave Racers YW211137 Super Helix Speedway Track Playset, Multi-Colour, 96 x 54.4 x 26 cmThe set. This is a clip together racing track with two cars. The cars run on 2 x AAA batteries each. Several sets can be combined to make a bigger set.Building.This is easy and quick as everything clips together easily. It is very colourful. How it works. To make the cars go you have to wave your hand above them, it sounds silly but in fact is great fun seeing who can get their car to go around fastest. The cars have motion sensors in them to work out the hand movement and appropriate speed. We 9and the kids) had great fun getting used to using the set.Play value. It tests construction skills, 3D thinking and its just fun to play. I would consider that it gives good play value but make sure you have plenty of spare batteries as they run down quickly.Overall.A novel racing game which is great fun and well made. A bit expensive but it does hold its play value well..

Great fun for both kids.....and adults
Once in a while, a kids toy comes along that adults like to play with as well. The Wave Racers is certainly one of them. The package contains the tracks and two cars. Get 4 AAA batteries for the cars as well as they contain the sensors and power the cars. Word of warning though - you need strength to assemble the track components together. After assembling the track, we were ready..sorry, the nephews were ready to race. It didn't take them long to get the hang of it. The only problem is if the cars are running along side each other so there was frantic hand gesturing and shouting that almost resulted in a fight between them. They complained that their arms were aching as well so in a way, it introduces good physical exercise as well. Judging from the nephews' reactions, Wave Racers was a roaring success. Obviously, their competitive Dad took on competitive Uncle (me) and we couldn't stop laughing. We both agreed that if Wave Racers had been available during our childhoods, this would have been near the top of the wish list.Highly recommended if you want to give the kids something different that combines fun and exercise at the same time.

Eh, I hate the waving aspect. It's more of a show than a game; novelty wears off fast
• I hate that you wave like a maniac, and sometimes the car doesn't even start. I feel and look silly.• The speed of the car is allegedly based on how fast you wave; I doubt this, though — it seems like a binary. It's either off or it's extremely fast.• As the cars whizz around, the rickety plastic shakes and rattles.• It doesn't seem like a true race — it's not like Scalextric — whoever starts first, finishes first. You can't control it once the car has started.• The novelty wears off pretty fast and it stops being fun.• The cars actually go so fast that you can't keep count of how many laps each has done. (You'd have to video it and replay it in slow motion.)• Batteries are not included; you need to buy 2 AAA batteries per car.🏆 I feel really mean giving this a low rating, but the overall experience is unfortunately not that good. The novelty wears off almost immediately, and the waving is ridiculous. (The toy has potential, though — if they replaced the waving thing with something else it'd be improved vastly.)

Too much of a gimmick.
This really is t child friendly. This was for my eldest granddaughter who loves cars and race tracks. We have the well known one with the black track that’s been around for eons. Anyway this was difficult to build. And once it was built she lost interest with its wavy lines. To be fair I really can’t blame her. Sadly this wasn’t for her or for us. We didn’t like it much either.
