Pretty awesome! Great Expansion/Extension! I've wanted to purchase this for years, and could *finally* afford it this year! YAY! So pumped. This is the combination of a few of my favorite things about Catan: Exploration, unusual trade items, interactions between teamwork and competition, etc. Quality: A few pieces off-center / defective, but still playable! I just emailed the Catan Shop to propose a credit / replacement for the defective / missing components I have in my box here. If they aren't able, I'll go the Amazon exchange / replace / credit route. I had the same off-center printing others have mentioned, but only on a few pieces and they're totally fine to still play with. Even with my OCD and Autism stuff, I'll be ok. I was missing the Resource Cards, and have a broken Brown Pirate Ship. I can possibly repair it myself, and will gladly do that if I'm given a credit or replacement for the defective pieces. Not a huge deal. I'm such a Catan fan that I really can't wait to use it regularly, in any condition. So glad to finally have this! I can start playing with it regularly as soon as this broken piece thing is worked out. Yay!

We have the original Catan and were gifted the for player expansion for Xmas. I purchased this to go with the 4 player expansion. We love this version as it has several variations that you can play. Adding the pirates and fish is awesome and adds another level to the game. Well worth the money as we will be playing this for years to come.

Want to add levels of complexity to catan...this is it. The expansion and player expansion is a bit of a racket but great business model. it is a bit complex at first to setup and get the parts you need from the sets. so setup way before planning to play. lots of options and would strongly suggest playing each level until you are comfortable before moving to the next.

value is very worth it. not a difficult game to follow and a perfect expansion if you play the original

Really cool add-on for Catan but it is not for someone who wants to have a simple game of Catan. I love it but when you take the base, 5-6 standard, explorers and pirates expansion, and then the explorers and pirates 5-6 expansion you have to take a bit to set the board up. Putting it away is a whole other adventure. This said, I am not one to shy away from a challenging game and this one is both fun and challenging. It really changes Catan to be one where it is a combination of a builder game and an exploration game. It really adds a sense of the "fog of war" to the game.

Obsessed with Settlers of Catan - this is a great expansion. Remember, you have to have the base game to play any expansions and you have to have the base extension AND the expansion extension to play with more folks on the expansion.
