This is one book I feel that every English literature student should definitely have. It covers all the basic aspects of English literature, forms, etc. so it is a very useful buy. A dictionary for the various elements in English literature.

Hello, I am sachin mane from maharashtra, India. I bought it yesterday (25/12/2021). In time delivery by amazon. Thanks for that. Book is lightweight. the publication date of fifth paperback edition published in 2014but on amazon page it shows september 2015. page quality is poor and font is too small to read without glasses. however rich with many updated entries and helpful to a student of literature. I would give four stars ****.

To me it is a tough competitor to M.H Abrams' Glossary of literary terms. The book is also affordable and nice except that the pages seemed a little thin. Nevertheless, I'm completely satisfied and recommend for any English Literature student

This is such a monster of a book, But it is really amazing. There are a lot of things to learn from this one. There are so many literary terms and their usages etc. If you are a literature student , then this book is a must. It will help you to learn and get through the competitive exams.

I already had M H Abram's A glossary to literary terms, but I would say it's a book that every student of literature must have. Detail information of each literature and beautifully explained and tht too in a very simple language.

Great book, very much helpful , perfect vocabulary used , read it in detail , but would like to point out that it has some serious grammatical mistakes in a few pages , like page 160 refers to people as peoples. It could be better if next edition keep in mind errors as such which are difficult to ignore. But a lovely book again. I must thank Cuddon and Habib for such a compilation.

This book is one of my favorite book .It is an outstanding book for Literature students.

This book was recommended for me from other AP Lit teachers and they were all correct. So many terms defined with solid examples of works for most terms. A great resource for this class.

Cannot work without this book alongside me. Great cross referencing which opens up so many more possibilities

A must book for every English literature student/philologist

Had to acquire this book for studying reasons. My university lecturer made us buy it, since it ought to help us. And guess what: it did. Truely awesome explanations in this thing. I don't know, that I would buy it, just for looking up some definitions, still it's a more complete work than wiki anyways.The entries are comparable to OED style entries. Very nice to read and packed full of useful hints.

J'ai acheté cet ouvrage pour la préparation au CAPES, puisque j'ai commencé la littérature anglophone au niveau Master sans en avoir fait en licene et avait sérieusement besoin de me mettre à jour. Il est très complet, et les explications de certains termes renvoient à des notions en lien avec le terme concerné. Les définitions sont simples et claires, et donnent parfois le contexte historique ou l'étymologie du terme, lorsque c'est utile. Il est accessible à tous, il n'y a pas besoin d'être un expert en littérature pour comprendre les définitions.Bref, certainement l'achat le plus utile que j'ai fait pour cette matiere, il surpasse l'ouvrage de F. Grellet souvent conseillé pour cette matière.
