Legendary transparent sound with powerful precise low and highs
These are the legendary headphones. Technically there is no match for this in its price range or beyond. Only thing people have to decide according to sound signature. Please go for 32ohms if you use for mobile or portable players. It just perfect with portable players. Design- These are classic with bigger earcups for comfort. The velver pads are very good. All parts replacable and mostly metal used. Headband pressure is light and comfortable .These are not for portable use. Sound- superb transparent sound with powerful precise lows and highs and very very natural mids. Bass/lows- just amazing. It can produce superb precise deep bass. There is no mid bass emphasis like in sennheiser or like sub bass emphasis on sony. Bass is just natural with slight emphasis on sub bass. Mids- very very natural mids. Its some what slightly U SHAPE. Highs- very very much extended and powerful and energetic. Its somewhat fatiging if the recording has sharp highs. Otherwise its very good. Imaging, instrument separation and sound stage are just awesome and I can say these are among the best you can find in any price range. Overall the sound signature is nearly flat with no attempt to make sound fat or pleasing like other manufacturers do. Technical capability of the driver is just amazing on how fast frequency response is. Finally these are for people who are very serious about the audio quality and have tasted the audiophile grade headphones before. Directly coming from commercial headphones may find it difficult to appreciate or understand the sound superiority these legend has. Also these are not for people sensitive to highs because these are on brighter side with extended highs. But you can compensate by using better recorded flac or higher bitrate music files or using equlizer. Also these are open back and so no sound isolation. Always remember to listen them or any open back headphones in quite place with low volume to save your ears. Happy listening.

Best Headphone
This is the best option for audiophile experience. Built is super strong and comfortable. You need to listen the Flac HQ files to get best out of this headphone. I use to hear all day long without any discomfort. I definitely recommend this set for my friends.

best pair of beyerdynamics for flac files on my Sam Note 8.
This has the brightest sound of all beyerdynamics on the verge of sibilance but that is why I like it.Excellent Transient response .Best soundstage of them all.32 ohm version easy to drive with mobile phones.Open design so No sound isolation.Have to pull it out to Max extension to fit my large head but then becomes the most comfortable pair I own.Should be durable but I am not going to try to sit on it.Cons: the DT770 Pro 32 with semi closed design produces tighter bass though this one has surprisingly good bass for an open design. Those who hate bright headphones pl stay away. Dedicated bassheads stay away too. For ALL others just jump aboard & enjoy almost any music to a degree you never dreamed of.

I think you might be able to do better if you stretch your budget a little.
To give you some context, these are my first open-back style headphones I've ever owned. I've never tried open-back style headphones prior to this. These headphones are extremely comfortable. The velour pads feel very nice and you can use these for long listening sessions. They are light-weight and more importantly, the weight that they do have is very well distributed across your head, which is why they feel so comfortable. I have the 32 ohm version. The cable is not detachable. What can I say... At this price-point. Beyerdynamic had to cut costs somewhere. The cable is comically long. So you'll have to roll it up and use a cable tie to keep it in place. These are open-back headphones, which is why they are best enjoyed in a room with no fans, AC, heaters, etc. Best enjoyed in winters when there are no fans running and no hum of AC. Complete silence. That's the best way to listen to all open-back headphones, with no ambient noise. Another thing about open-back headphones - the sound does leak from the headphones which means people around you will hear what you are listening to. The soundstage and instrument separation is the hallmark of open-back headphones, and for that, these headphones do not disappoint. Instruments and vocals sound extremely well separated and on certain songs, you might even hear instruments had no idea were even there when listening through your regular mass-market wireless earbuds. WARNING: Straight out of the box, these headphones have a harsh treble sound with a lot of sibilance. Also, the bass is severely lacking. Now I know that all open-back style headphones struggle with bass, but the bass on these is still quite deficient. YOU WILL HAVE TO EQ THESE HEADPHONES. No way around this. Use Equalizer APO software for Windows with the Peace interface overlay. They are both free downloads. Or use the equalizer on your smartphone. Or buy the USB Audio Player Pro app for Android. I believe it has an EQ. I'm not a bass-head but I do like tight, punchy, clean bass, which I would say that these headphones lack. These headphones are certainly treble-heavy. Which is why EQ is essential to tone down the treble and boost the bass. Due to the sound quality being less-than-stellar, I'm not sure I can unequivocally recommend these, even at this price point. Although I do acknowledge that for some use cases, like gaming, these might work well. However, that being said, if you still decide to buy these headphones, please do the following at a bare minimum: 1) "Break them in" for at least 48 hours. You can do eight 6-hour sessions of music of different genres. Just let the music play through them and put them aside. You can do this over the course of 2-3 days. 2) Use a headphone amp. I know these are rated at 32 ohm and they say that you can use them directly with your smartphone and/or laptop, but please, you will thank me and yourself if you pair these with a headphone amp (even one of those portable ones will be fine, like the FiiO E10K, which is what I use). 3) Please don't play MP3s and AACs through these. Use FLAC/ALAC files for god's sake. If you play lossy audio sources through these headphones, they'll make the music sound even worse since these kind of open-back headphones reveal even the slightest imperfeections in the music. What you put into these is what you'll get out of them. You put in crappy quality audio, then that's what you'll get as the end product. Garbage in, Garbage out. 4) EQ them. Boost the low frequencies and tone down the high treble ones.

Great sound.
Great sound at this price point. I purchased it @ 15896 inr. The large sound stage, instrument separation and imagine all are excellent.I am not found any ear fatigue. 32 ohm version is perfect for portable devices. Previously I have used ath m50x headphones. Both are v shaped sound signature but dt 990 have great detail and imagine and great comfort because of valour earpad. Cloutail India packaging and service are excellent.

Just plain awesome.....
The short version of this review is that I am 100%, absolutely pleased with these headphones and would buy them again. The long - What do I like? Sound - Pristine reproduction, almost completely uncolored. Pure, clean bass and excellent sound imaging. Instrument / performer location is nearly transparent with these, creating a wide soundstage. A great test album for these 'phones is the Bill Evans Trio album "Exporations". "Nardis", "Israel" and "Elsa" feature some very low acoustic bass from Scott LaFaro and very delicate brush work on the drums. These are the first headphones that I have heard that reproduce this so well. Classical music sounds excellent as well - John Eliot Gardiner's recording of Beethoven's Symphonies on period instruments is ridiculous on these. It sounds so good! Modern rock is also handled with ease - uncolored and clear. Perfect bass response, and when you want a boost in the bass, the DT990s handle the extra kick easily. I used the EQ on my headphone amp to boost the bass as a test, and found no problems or muddiness. IMHO, these phone do not need the bass boosted - they sound great with no EQ. Comfort - The most comfortable headphones I have worn. I don't think there is any problem here for anyone. Construction - Okay, these are only a few weeks old. I cannot attest to the long-term durability. I can say that they appear ot built very well. The cord is heavy and appears to be durable. The constuction is solid, yet lightweight. I think it'll do just fine over time. Comparison - I do NOT own 43 different pairs of expensive headphones. (As it seems many reviewers claim to own!) I have one other pair of "real" headphones; Grado mid-priced (~$100) headphones that sound great as well. The DT 990 kills them, leaves them in the dust so to speak - as they should for the price difference! (But I still love the Grados!) What I was able to do a few months ago was visit this absurd electrincs shop in Tokyo (Akihabara) and audition a ton of 'phones with my own MP3 files. The DT 900s were among them. The only headphones that I thought were this good were the Sennheiser's with "wood-trim" and the DT 880. (Sorry, I forgot the model number of the Sennheiser) I cannot give you a run-down of this model compared to that model ad infinitum. The DT 990s sounded better (to me) than many 'phones costing quite a bit more - some AKGs (I think the Quincy Jones model) and Audio Technica were hundreds more expensive and IMHO were inferior to these. I can tell you that I love the sound of these and do not regret buying them. I am not going to comment on noise isolation. These are open type 'phones, as anyone intelligent enough to read has already discovered in the product description. If you are reading this and don't know what that means, do an internet search on that term. Plus that, they are GERMAN made and engineered! (If you don't know it by now, literally every product made in Germany is superior to similar products made elsewhere with one exception - dental floss.) This product again reinforces my admiration for German engineering. Simply awesome product! I hope that this review helps you to decide what to buy. I had a very difficult time deciding, and had the good fortune of being able to visit Tokyo prior to buying. I was able to audition dozens of headphones in a store there, Akihabara. I don't think that you will find that here in the US. (If there was a store like that here, all of the audition headphones would either be broken or stolen, sadly.) Update - December 30, 2012 - Fantastic 'phones!!!! I am fully aware that nearly all headphones exhibit some type of "break-in" where the audio qualities may change slightly after some hours of use. I can only say that the Beyerdynamics sound better to me than they did a month ago. Hard to qualify that, really... I think that they sound more "open" and transparent. Excellent 'phones, no change in my opinion from earlier. Just a very fine audio product and the best headphones I have heard. Easily in the category of "Would buy again." Update - January 2014 - Better than ever - cannot knock these at all. Worth the money, sound great, look and feel as good as the day they were new. Sound better than new. Very happy with these after living with them a bit now... I recently bought the much cheaper Bro' of these Beyerdynamic DTX 910 Stereo Headphones for Portable and Home usage (Silver Black) for use away from home, and am very pleased with those for $70.

Sumptuous Luxury at a Budget price
Well. WOW. These Beyers are the absolute dogs....... I have owned many more expensive headphones from Sennheiser,Sony etc which are just not in the same league as far as I am concerned and having owned previously some DT770 which broke but I loved I thought I would get another pair from them and I am absolutely delighted I did. The open back gives a feeling of having your speakers right on your ears. I couldn't remember the 770s giving this amount of detail. These have just the correct amount of bass, treble and midrange whatever music you throw at them and they are by far the comfiest headphones I have ever owned or tried. Well worth the £134 I paid (I went for the edition version as all reviews I read said they were the comfiest for home use whereas the pro version was better for studios) and the 32ohm version so I could use them comfortably with my portable devices, although they are just as good with my main hi fi equipment. Honestly, they are a fantastic bit of kit and rightly deserved of all the great reviews of them. Buy, you will not be disappointed !!!
