Best Bang for the "Buck"
Hunters - most of us use calls and we all have preferences so rating this is opinion and subjective right? I have used Woodswise products in the past and others and found them to be too soft and needs the right conditions of no wind and tree noise and having relative close proximity to work - and they have to a certain degree. This one is loud and offers the hands free options to strap to your arm, is not that bulky at all and sound really good. I have stopped bucks, called them in, called doe in and have made progress in my hunts with this. Those cans are mindless and not loud enough. This one will work so YOUTUBE this one to see some amatures using is and practice here and there to know how to Wheeze Snort as this is also the open chamber at the top. Read some people effing saying it does NOTHING. lol uhhh yeah its an open chamber you make the noise using air and little technique but it offers the horn shape to braodcast it. Dopes.... anyhow for the money - seriously - NOTHING beats this call. try it and trust me its built to last for sure and is rugged. Top notch call my Primos

Awesome tool but know how to use it!
They key to using any deer grunt is to know HOW to use it. Strongly recommend watching many YouTube videos prior to taking this into the field. In years past, I used grunts far too aggressively and too often. These are just a tool, they do not guarantee a deer. Case in point: this year while hunting in PA I decided to take a very passive approach to calls. I did two grunts every 30 minutes and would just wait and glass the timber. At about the 22 minute mark I saw movement about 40 yards behind me--it was two bucks chasing a doe. They started run away from me so I got out the grunt and blew one loud grunt--the doe kept going but the two bucks stopped dead in their tracks and in about 2 minutes came all the way back around directly in front of my stand looking for the buck who grunted. By this time I was fully ready with gun up and aimed. The rest is history. Bottom line: these work but don't overuse them. If I had grunted again they would have saw me up in the tree and ran away. Go easy and watch a ton of YouTube videos on grunts. This is how I learned and scored!

Great Call - Versatile!
You have to spend a lot of time practicing (over and over) to get used to any call system, and how to make sounds "just right". This call has a nice grunt and snort. The real key to making a call work is to simply be mindful of your own scent and the wind pattern, and then knowing how often to use the call. Practice makes perfect, and just sitting in the woods on a nice cool evening practicing is a lot of fun.I have used other calls that I liked better after buying this, but it remains my only call of this type.

Sounds good, but could have been designed better
Grunt sounds good, wheeze sounds good too, but it's awkward and annoying that the two of them are mounted right next to each other--makes it hard to get your mouth over just one in the heat of the moment. Arm band thing is pretty cool--nice to be able to throw it on my arm when bow hunting. The tone tube is squishy, so you can squeeze it to get different tones, but half the time I do that it pinches the darn thing off, which really pisses me off when I'm in the field, but I'm not certain this call is designed for that anyways (which is also stupud). Overall, it's a decent little grunt for the money and sounds good, but could have been thought out better.

Wow. It really works!!
After hearing a buck grunt while hunting a couple of weeks ago, I went looking around for a solution to try to bring him in. This is the first season I am experimenting in a big way with scents, but that just didn't seem aggressive enough. What I needed was a call. Some internet research led me to look at the Buck Roar. Now, I'm a waterfowler too, and can appreciate the exquisite beauty of a well made call (and lord knows, I have plenty made by Primos) and the glory of communicating with an incoming flock of ducks. But this was deer I was looking at. Basically, I didn't think it would ever work.Took it out mid week for a bit and played around with it, and got no where, and chalked the purchase up as simply another worthless hunting gimmick.Today was the opener of Virginia's muzzleloader season, and when I headed out to the stand, I left the Buck Roar in my truck. 2 hours out, the sun is up and there's not a deer to be seen in any of the fields I'm hunting. I head back to the truck, ready to head home, but decide to grab the Roar and play with it a bit, while I explore the new property I'm hunting. Find a remote corner of the field, at the top of the hill, and sit down with my back against an old fence post hidden by some thorn bushes, and a breathtaking view of the valley before me. I blow on the roar.and wait.Couple of minutes later, I hear a much louder roar coming from the woods to my left. I blow again, this time more forcefully, and then throw in a wheeze and a huff. Immediately, I hear the same roar come back, this time louder and closer. I wait a couple more minutes, and do it again. As soon as I roar, I hear movement, and then through the bushes see the face of a nice mature 8 point buck looking straight at me.I freeze. He looks around, and jumps the fence, and starts looking for the deer that challenges him. Standing 6 yards from me, staring straight at me (I was frozen still, with my gun on the ground) he is so enraged he doesn't notice me, as he hunts for the buck he was communicating with.At this point, I got a bit nervous, cause he's a big boy and could do a bit of harm. But he turned, and continued searching, ultimately presenting himself for a shot.A fantastic experience. An incredible call. I am hooked and convinced that I have no better tool in my hunting arsenal than the Primos Buck Roar. Wow!

Great buck call
Being primarily a mule deer hunter, I'd never used a deer call before. However, going to MT this year and planning on being in white tail country during the rut, I decided to buy the Primos Buck Roar. On the 2nd day of my hunt I went in to an area of thick willows that we had spotted some white tails in earlier. After I set up, I let out 2 grunts on the tube, and a nice 4x4 white tail buck popped up about 130 yards away and started running toward me. 5 minutes later I was standing over my MT buck. The Buck Roar works and is super easy to use. If I can call in a buck the first time I ever used it, then anyone can do it.

Sounds great. Elastic band sucks
I don't like the elastic band to put around my arm it is to short and won't stay together. The sound of the call is great.

Okay
Did not find it to be strongly constructed. It does make a noise and I must admit it did not make the deer come closer but did stop the deer.
