Antiques Roadshow: 40 Years of Great Finds

A nice coffee table book with the usual gems from our favourite TV programme. One quibble is the poor quality of the photographs - I find it hard to accept other reviews on here calling them excellent - they have that slightly blurred phone camera look to me, lacking in contrast. For the price however one really cannot argue so it merits four stars.

Bought this as a birthday present for my 91 year old mother in law (the woman who has everything) and she absolutely adored it. I've had a sneaky preview, too, and I love the way the author brings each 'find' up to date. A great book for reading from cover to cover or to 'dip into'. A quaky hardback and well worth the money.

This is a wonderful collection of some of the most memorable items to feature on the Roadshow over the last 40 years. As well as a description of each item, and the circumstances in which the owner came to acquire it, there is often a follow up with what happened next - did the owner sell or keep it?One small niggle is that the proof reading could have been better - a number of typos crop up throughout. Also the rather strange use of the phrase “valued for” - wouldn’t you normally say “valued at”?

superb quality book . Excellent photographs . Great to know more about the famous finds , many of which you will remember , and to know what happened next . Did they sell it ? And how much for etc . Were the experts right in their analysis and so on . A book you can just dip into at random .

This was a gift and it was very well received. It was a very interesting and informative book.
