Orbit26097 Emergency Water and Gas Valve Shut-off Tool

This product has a feature that most others don't... it's clearly identifiable as to what it's for with the color yellow. The rubber coating prevents scratching up other tools and a slip resistant surface if you need to use to shut off a valve when there's a lot of water involved. Everybody should have one of these in their home, truck/car, and go bag for emergencies.

Very happy with this shut off/on tool. We are snowbirds and have to turn off our water when we leave. This tool makes sure it is shut off properly. When we return to turn the water back on, my husband no longer struggles with a pair of pliers to open the water value. This tool works perfectly to turn the water back on to our home.

Not built as sturdy as I would like however, it is functional. I’m afraid if you got a hold of a hard to turn valve it could break. I purchased this to use on a gas meter and it fits very sloppy, but does work, the end to be used for the water valve is for the Texas size which is not on most residential properties. The Pentagon is too big for the residential size meter cover and the valve is too big for a standard size residential water valve. Would probably be better off using a aluminum crescent wrench to turn on and off the gas line.

Works better than expected. It doesn't feel heavy, but I've applied a lot of strength and used it for heavy jobs, even used it as a hammer, and it doesn't budge. It also is the best tool for closing the master water valve and other valves at home.

I have used it a couple of time now. It is a handy tool to have hanging in the garage.

It's sturdy enough, but it's bulky and there's no need for this tool. Just get a decent crescent wrench or pipe wrench instead; it'll work just as well for shutting off valves, plus anything else you might need a wrench for.

I keep mine hanging by my back door, with my gas line right outside. Shut the line off when away on vacation, when I wouldn't need winter heat.

Apparently there are multiple penta bolt sizes used on street meter boxes. This is for one larger than I have so it didn't help me. Good customer service though and nicely made. Guess the gas turn-off will be fine should I need to use it (and can find the tool :).
