Not nearly as good as I hoped it would be
Not nearly as good as I hoped it would be. The thing I like about this product is that the cord isn't as thick or as heavy as the brand I had before. What I don't like is that the two metal parts that tighten the cord to the legs of the glasses tends to slip and I have to push them every day so that the legs won't slip out. The price of this item is very low, but as they say, you get what you pay for. I would not buy again.

Helpful product nicely priced
As i have been getting older i had to start wearing glasses. Early on when not needing them regularly i would put them in my pocket or in a case and either forget them or drop them or something. So i tried the eyewear cords, chum brand were some of the first i bought, i personally like the plastic thing that tightens onto your glasses. I have tried the ones that fit over the glass (oh shoot i can't remember what the part is that goes over your ears! :)) but i didn't like them. I have bought from chums directly (different colors, etc.) but i saw these and they were a great price (<$5) for six i think so i bought them to have just in case. None last forever and eventually break so want spares on hand. Usually i can get quit a while from each (year or more). The downside is that i have used these for so long now that if i put on a pair of glasses without the cord then i will often pull the glasses off and drop them (with the cord on this is fine) but without they fall on the floor! :)

Plastic loop does not hold fast
While grocery shopping, I had my glasses hanging from my neck as this retainer is advertised to do. I had noticed from the start of my use, that the plastic loops would often slip off glasses. This should have been a clue to me not to use this retainer: the silver gadget on the plastic loop just would not keep my gasses firmly attached. During my shopping, I did not realize that one end of the retainer had slipped off my glasses and fell from my neck. I am now missing a pair of prescription glasses. Financially, I am able to replace my glasses, but not everyone can. Very dissapointed with this purchase. The remaining 5 of the pack of six will never be used by me.

At Least I Learned Something
I read the reviews, but thought I knew better... I like the spring temple hinges with metal arms, and they usually work very well with this type of retainer. However, the ends would not stay on at all. So I tried them on a pair with plastic arms, and they wouldn't stay on them either! Upon further research, the ones I've always used had black ROUND material for the loops (like an o-ring), whereas these have clear FLAT rings (they look like a clear tubing was cut into thin strips). I'm sure the round rather than flat rings has something to do with the fact that they do not stay tight on the eyeglass arms. I'm not sure the black rather than clear material does, but it follows that rubbery is more gripping than poly tubing strips. They were returned and I purchased some that appear to have the correct ends. Another reviewer for a different brand said he looped it over twice(?), I guess like starting macramé on a rod? I will try that if the others don't work either.

Disappointing -- these "retainers" don't retain very well
I've been using similar eyewear retainers for about eight years which I'd been buying at a local grocery/department store for about $1.99 each. This gives me something to use as a reference when evaluating this product from Chums, which I've been using for several months.+ I really liked the price; $.60 beats $2 any day+ The length is exactly the same as my old brand- The plastic loop frequently slips off the temples of my glasses -- at least every other day. Since they hold prescription bifocals, I'm not at all happy when this happens as I'm rightfully concerned they will either fall and break on impact or fall and I will step on them. Perhaps this is acceptable for inexpensive $3-10 safety glasses provided by an employer in an industrial environment however this is not acceptable for prescription eyewear or expensive sunglasses.- The diameter of the cord is perhaps half the size of my old modelThe bottom line is that I cannot recommend this product to retain eyewear worth more than $10. I'm not sure what I will do with the other five I have left.

My mother used to call these ...
... idiot strings. And that they are: they keep you from misplacing your glasses. I do that all the time because I use the peepers so seldom. Idiot strings eliminate multi-room searches for glasses. These Chums brand are better than others I've tried. Chums have stout nylon (? -- or some kind of plastic) loops which attach to your glasses. These are superior to the rubber type, insofar as these Chums loops are much more durable. I was going through one of the other type every month or so. I've gotten over a year out of these. Strongly recommended.

They do slip off, but will tape solve the problem? Maybe.
Been using them for a while now and had to knock it down from my original 5 stars due to a problem many have mentioned - the part that grips the arm of the glasses loosens up too easily and slips off. I have just put a little bit of scotch tape around them. It blends in pretty well so is not too noticeable. If it holds it should solve the problem. Still, seems very reasonable for the price I paid.Below is my original 5 star review.Only used a couple of them but so far they seem fine. They stretched to fit over a pair of wide frame glasses with no problem. The grip seems very secure. I have no complaints at all. I'll adjust the rating if the durability becomes a problem.

You may be in for a fall
Looks good, only problem I have is that one of my eyeglass temples keeps slipping out of the plastic retaining hoop. Then the obvious happens glasses fall. My temples are metal with plastic ear pieces, I was surprised when the retainer just slipped easily of the ear piece.May have fixed by bending retaining spring with small needle nosed pliers, tightening it's grip on plastic retaining strip

Loop does not stay on
The loop attaching to the glasses keeps coming loose and eventually falls off. I would not trust them with expensive glasses.
